I cant believe all the fu@king hell I have to go through over this car! (other then Doug)....IT never ends and the sad thing about it is, it's other people. I have been pretty much F'ed over by everyone I have gone too and here we go again.
First some semi good news. I have been working with
BAR on the issue of MMR and their so called new block they over bored. They told me I had a case and that after talking to all the contacts I provided that they were (and did) go pay them a visit. I heard he just got back, but have not heard anything yet. The other option is to call visa and get the money back, but I wanted to try this first since I just want enough to cover the bock and extras I had to pay for. For people that have really been screwed these are options you can use for free. In the long run I might not get anything back.. but they will all know my name!
Now for the current unreliable problem. The car was rebuilt with new block 9.2:1 comp Ross pistons and rings, clevite H-series rod and main bearings etc. I was giving a base tune and told to drive 500 miles at no higher then 3K and very rpm.. I did that and had an oil change at 500 miles and when they were free to take the car back I racked up 1321 miles on it. They took it in this week and did a comp/ leak on the new engine and came up with this..
NEW LEAK DOWN w/ NEW Rebuilt engine
Compression | Leak Down
#1= 160 11%
#2= 165 7%
#3= 165 8%
#4= 155 15%
#5= 166 8%
#6= 170 7%
#7= 166 9%
#8= 168 8%
This is the leak down when I decided to rebuild it!
Leak Down: test with 99psi
Cylinder:
#1 = 6%
#2 = 7%
#3 = 6%
#4 = 6%
#5 = 15%
#6 = 17%
#7 = 10%
#8 = 18%
Compression:
#1 = 215
#2 = 205
#3 = 210
#4 = 210
#5 = 180
#6 = 180
#7 = 190
#8 = 175
I dont know how or why the % are so high on a new engine?!?! ITs just as messed up as when I brought it there? They swapped out all of the spark plugs (old ones only had 2K miles on them!) and told me to drive it another 500 miles and this time I can go up to 4K rpm.. Can someone please tell me wft is going on?
1.) Does replacing spark plugs after 2K miles on them really matter? or is it a squeeze more money out of this chump
2.) On a new engine what are the average % the cylinders should be?
3.) If the rings are not seated after 1321 miles then will 500 more miles matter?
4) the engine builder took a scope and everything looked fine.. does anyone have any ideals?
5) is it too later to turn gay buy a prius and move to San Fran?
