black is the best color to go with it looks the best plus has added function. we have done several studies with laser temp gauges. if it is black and heat is applied to it as long as there is heat on it it will retain heat and heat up better then any other color. but as soon as you take the heat source away it will loose the heat faster then any other color. white takes longer to heat up but once you get it up to temp it will hold temp longer.

Longtubes came off last night and the car is pretty much apart lol. I will post up pics as soon as I get a chance. I'm also picking up the hot side during my lunch break, so the install will begin in a few hours!

Some updates...

Picked up the hotside today:

Stock manifolds were put back on today, I made an attempt at using that high temp black paint for headers which I thought was decent at best:

I'll get a pick up in the daytime with the flash off, but I also polished the f*** out of the turbo and had the exhaust housing of the turbo jet hot coated as well:

And finally, just before I left the shop, they started installing some of the hotside piping to check for fitment, which all worked out like a charm I might add:

Tomorrow is D-Day... everything needs to be installed tomorrow, so I will sleep at the shop if it's necessary. I will be updating the thread every step of the way as often as I can

So I hit a couple of snags and it seems like the install will be completed tomorrow. One thing to be noted is that the oil filter relocation will require the use of a different oil filter, a longer one with a bigger slot because the fitting that goes on the relo kit and then has the oil filter snapping on top of it does not fit

I had the same issue but i did my own oil filter relcoation off summit. U need to find out what size thread the filter relocation adaptor has and btw they make different thread adaptors to run the style filter you want(summit sells them). Mine came with a 3/4"-16 and i use a motorcraft f1a1 (3$ at walmart) and its twice as big as the stock filter.

And what are some of the other snags, im interested to hear them as I have had a few as well and listed them in my build thread.

The oil pan deal... When you tap the oil pan, the correct way to do it would be to take the own out and then tap into it and remove all the metal shavings. Remember, all it takes is a tiny little piece of a shaving to wreck something. So something we didn't expect to have to do was remove the pan to do that, which took a bit of time, not to mention the fact that there is no drill bit large enough to tap a hole that big.

Drilling is actually a bad idea. Did yall not follow the instuctions(voretch)?
I didnt remove my pan used a punch which creates no metal shavings and makes the depth adequate to get a good set of threads in there with the tap. A drill bit is gonn make make more shavings and offer less area to tap.
Because the pipe tap is tappered, the flutes on the tap grab the shavings and pull them outwards as you thread it in, and coating it with grease was a great idea as it caught everything. I then ran a bolt g rabber magnet in the hole to check for any stray particles, then you drain the oil afterwards.
