My regret is trying to buy cams off ebay. I got scammed. Luckily it worked out in the end.

I don't regret my hot rod cams though. Technically they may lose a little down low but I honestly don't feel it. I have NO drive-ability problems at all. Sounds great and I did not lose MPG. I still get 25 HWY and 20/21 average city/HWY mix. I EASILY spin the fuck out of the tires from a stop and I have brand new 275 KDWs too. Also stock 3.31s. I plan on 4.10s because in my area it's hilly as fuck and these 3.31s hate it. Even IF I lose MPG from them (probably won't due to the hills) I don't care because I work at home a lot and it's a V8 mustang not a prius so fuck it.

For a street car, hot rods are the only way to go IMO. Too many complaints about the others. For serious racing, custom grind.

The thumprs do sound awesome though. I like their sound better than the hot rods a little, but they seem to have more issues from what I've heard.

Who did your tune?

I love my hot rods too. Put them in a couple weeks ago, sounds and runs great. I am having some idle issues but I am positive it is a tuning issue. going to go get a dyno tune in a couple weeks I think.

My only regret is not buying a completely stock GT. Bought the car with quite a bit of stuff on it and have removed almost everything the the previous owner put on. I suppose it isn't all bad since I have been able to sell a lot of the parts I took off.

This thread is making me want to reconsider getting my motor built and just staying happy with what I have... maybe add some cams and call it a day.... Hmmmmm.

No regrets thus far. My Liberty 3650 whines, but I'm not to the point of regretting it yet.

Really? What about the MGW didn't you like? Curious as you are the first person I've heard of who didn't like it. Im going to be switching from the Pro 5.0 to the MGW soonish.

The vid shows the installer making the shifts with a couple of fingers smooth as silk. And yeah, it is... parked as in the vid. Going down the road it's about as smooth as the stocker. I can move the stock shifter just as effortlessly as the vid. Going from 2nd to 3rd is an improvement but that's about it. I messed with the different heights several times and I just didn't see what the big deal was.

Also, going from the stock boot to the to their foam/rubber seals with all that sound deadening material produced a lot of unwanted road noise I didn't care to listen to at speeds. It's nice to look at and say you have it but it wasn't worth all that coin, IMO. I sold mine to a member here who I hope appreciated it more than I did.

hurst short shifter....sucks ass

Amen brother!!!
My Hurst was hard to shift gears. Third was a shot in the dark, the shaft bolts were too small for the holes in the shaft, and the damn thing rattled at the high end of every shift. I used Lock-Tite and even wrap the base with tape. No dice. Sounded like crap and made my ride sound cheap.

I regret a few things:

1. Not just doing FI and suspension first. like most of the people said they did all the cheaper little stuff, CAI, UDPs, cams, etc etc... in a year from now or so im looking to buy a GT500, I will do it right this time, Kenne bell and full suspension, no little "add 15 rwhp" stuff, just straight power.

2. the other thing is i had a really good set of 4.10s in my car for like 2 years and they were quiet, no issues at all, but i switched over to 3.73, gone through 3 sets and still have issues, I put 3.73s in when i put the KB on, sould have kept the 4.10s and just ran a 28" tire because thats what im going to do now anyways.

3. oh yeah like most, they are money pits and you never feel fullfilled on looks/power. it never ends.

I know that feeling.

Yeah, it kinda sucks. The car is way too trick now. Don't get me wrong, I love it. It's just not something I want to DD. Even though I could.

I'm going to pick up a 2010+ GT500 Track Pack, pulley and tune it and throw some mufflers at it and call it done. That will be my DD car.

Then I'm going to go crazy and compound boost my 2007!......And drive it 5 times a year! LOL! I'll never stop being a dumbass.

From my past experiences, I would say making uneducated decisions about my suspension. Seems like every car before the Shelby, I made this mistake by going the cheap route.

I thought about that instead of the 5.0, but had a lot of fears and doubts. A GT500 is too rare for me to own right now. I'd feel bad putting 15k miles on it and be scared of parking it in the hardware, grocery, and theater parking lots. Cars like that aren't supposed to be DD's unless you've got money to blow.

The new 5.0 will definitely hold me over for some time. I'm still doing some research to see what the first mods are. After my 05, I know FI is the way to go, but I don't want nearly 600hp, that's actually frightening to me (since that's double what i just had). 450rwhp would have been fine in my 05, but I didn't want to put another $8k into it for an SC, gauges, and dyno tune. I'm pretty sure the new GT's can get to 425rwhp pretty easily and that should hold me over for quite some time. Honestly, its holding me over just fine right now. I'm 50/50 on how smooth/soft the gear shifts are and I'm curious how much MPG would improve with a mail order tune.

Tune is THE best mod i've done yet to my '11 auto. I DO regret going with a cheap tune for my first one. It was way faster than stock but driveability for a DD in the auto was lacking(harsh shifts, too sensitive throttle etc). I switched to VMP and its light years better(and faster). The manuals are way easier to get a good tune for but not many companies seem to have good DD auto tunes.

I wouldn't think twice about DD'ing a gt500. I'd track that bitch no problem. You only live once.

the first thing was buying the car because after that it all went down hill. Roushcharger was a bad idea i really wanted to go turbo but got a deal on the supercharger. then the 20" rims now i want 18's. the Nav system and the headrest TV's( great for the kids) but could of spent the money on better things. Like a much needed vacation.

I think FUCKED is a better way of looking at it.:roflmao:

It sure would be nice to have a near stock car to pound on every day of the week though. And a GT500 with a pulley and a tune would fill that role just right. Hell, if I ever lost a race in it I could always go home and get the 07':thumb2:

I've also got a STONE STOCK 2010 GT Vert Premium and sure I wish it was faster. But I LOVE driving that car. I beat on it like its a Focus, never wash it, change the oil....almost never. It's just great. I need something in between the 07' and the 2010. Stock but pretty fast. I'd be a happy boy.
