my first stang was a joke
got an 83 GL hatchback for $400. it had a 3.8 carbed v6 out of what I think was a cougar or a T bird, 3 speed auto, a steering colomb definitely out of a cougar, it was this ugly ass dark grey/blue color, black vynal interior, the list goes on.
most of the car did not work. the speakers for the analog radio were shot, the tach did not work until I figured out how to set it from 4cyl to 6cyl, no ac, heater core eventually broke, and it ate charging system parts.
it had an electric fan on the motor that did not work. I was still new to cars and the best solution I could come up with was to run a switch into the dashboard. I ran the wires though the steering shaft grommet in the firewall and one day the wire wore down and caught fire.
as much of a hunk of shit that car was I saw its potential even back then. I really wish I kept it. I traded it for $300 and got a firebird because I needed reliable transportation (3 700r4 transes later LOL). I wish I would of kept it and got a more regular car to drive around in. a few years of working on that car and it would of been a nice fast ride.
oh yeah, and the accelerator pump on the carb of unknown origin was broke. so if you floored it you actually went slower than half throttle.
