Summit shows that part# fits pushrod fords and chevys. Is there a # after the 6923? Like 6923-07 or 03,04 or C?

I had a 6912 with both a Fidanza flywheel and Mcleod.

I'm still wondering if the floater got taken apart by the installing shop. It's shimmed by Mcleod and gets a low torque on the fasteners like 22 ft lbs IIFC.

I ordered from AMP under their group buy. IIRC I got the flywheel from Lethal though.

The setup on my 3650 was different. More different than just having 10 spline hubs although McLeod said they could rehub the clutches and I could of used it on the 6060.

The 3650 had a gold ring too. Edit: I see it's a 6912 also. I used this one with a Fidanza steel flywheel.

Another edit: Just did a search for 6913 mcleod. Here is what jegs says the different versions fit. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...reId=10001&catalogId=10002&N=4294965982&Nty=0

Jeremy where did you order from?

Was this the number on yours? Is there any chance your shop took apart the parts that are shimmed by McLeod? Specifically the floater ring.

Yeah, 6923-07. I'll call McLeod on Tuesday and see what the difference is, and what I might to do fix it, but I'm sure I'm screwed. If it's coming out, another McLeod clutch isn't going back in.

Looks like I need a 6918-07, considering the 6060 and that I already have their flywheel (which appears to have 164 teeth), either part number 463408 or 463458.

Thanks for everyone's help... sorry to piggyback on someone else's thread.

From the Going Around In Circles Department:

I talked to McLeod this morning, and it turns out the part numbers are not my issue. The 6918 kit is just a packaged 6923-0x + flywheel, which is what I already have.

This merry-go-round sucks.

Next, I'm going to throw a 1/8" shim behind the slave, and if that doesn't work, I'm either going to replace the PP and floater or put in an Exedy Mach 600, whichever is cheaper.

I pulled my RST clutch out this week and put in a Excedy mach 600 in. CURED all my shifting/grinding problems. Not sure what's going on with Mcleod lately but I'm not impressed. Wasted lots of time and money on that POS. Anybody need a Mcleod boat anchor?

I sold my brand new Mach 600 because I thought I was going to get a better clutch etc with the RST. I have now had my tranny out twice, bought a new aluminum McCleod flywheel and I am still having a slight intermittent issue with the car getting stuck in 1st gear! I have a shim to go behind the TOB but that will mean dropping the tranny a third time. McCleod has lost my business! $1400 for a clutch and flywheel that still doesn't work correctly!

Hindsight should have kept my Mach 600!

No wonder you are having problems, McLeod lists a 6932 for your car. The 6923 is listed for a small diameter flywheel.

Edit:

A little more from the McLeod website pertaining to RST: 6912 is for a large flywheel (used by our motors) 6913 is used with a small diameter flywheel.

I have a 26 spline TR6060 and their flywheel, so according to McLeod, I need the 6923-07 or the 6918 (which is just a 6923-07 bundled with their steel flywheel, according to McLeod).

FYI, they have two large 164 tooth flywheels for our cars. Both have the same thickness as the OEM flywheel.
  • 463408: heavier than the OEM flywheel
  • 463458: carved out a little on the engine side to be about the same weight as the OEM flywheel

Ray,

The links to McLeods website show the 6932 to be correct for a 164 tooth Ford flywheel. The 6923 is for a 157 tooth.

The same applies to the rst but the part numbers are 6912 for a 164 (our motors) and 6913 for a 157 (pushrod).

Nowhere do they list a 6923 for a modular motor. Remember, I'm just trying to help.

It is my understanding that it only makes a difference if you use the factory flywheel, If you use the Mcleods FW either PP will work. But i would prefure to use the 32 or 12.

All I'm doing is looking a McLeod's website and what they list for useage. This is the same guide I used to select my 10 spline RST and 26 spline RST.

Here I am with only two McLeod installs under my belt and zero issues, no shims, but I followed McLeod's recommendations for parts usage.

I know how much pulling a tranny on the garage floor sucks, especially when it's to chase a problem (I went through this with a centerforce but won't go into it here). It looks plain as day to me. McLeod says the 6923 is for a pushrod 157 tooth flywheel and the 6932 is for a 164 tooth modular. Same for the 6912 vs 6913.

I agree i listed the same thing post 362 and 366, but Mcleod tells other wise if you call i hear. They have to many part numbers ie with or without 10 spline, 26 spline, factory FW , there FW. small FW, large FW. The same clutch fits 05/09 4.6 and 5.4 w/ 26 spline but they have 3 numbers

Thanks Bruce. I'm just telling you what McLeod told me. My bottom line is this: if the TOB shim doesn't work with what I have, I'm getting an Exedy Mach 600.

I think the shim will work, the fingers on the PP that i measured were not as tall as the Ford PP, and a shim was need. Still Mcleod needs to look at all there part numbers, make it easer

the clutch i ended up with is a 6913-07 matched to a mcleod flywheel....it has a black ring,it had zero issues for a few thousand miles on my buddies car. i also got the same tr6060 that it was used with. no shim....all though i did buy a shim just in case before i install.

when i measured my 3650 and the tr6060......ht einside bell housing/input shaft is 1/2 shorter on the tr6060.....making the TOB sit 1/2 closer on a tr6060....

Thats odd, my input shaft measurment was the same on my 09 3650, and 09 6060.
