Blew up the stock 3v ... New Build Thread
EDIT: Quick Links:
Day 1 - Beginning of old engine removal
Day 2 - Photos of big holes in each side of the block

Original Post:
Blew the motor today...
5th gear (5spd trans) WOT, around 4000-5000 RPM I would guess (140mph with 3.73 gears). Sounded like I drove over some gravel, and then white smoke everywhere with no power.
Towed to the house, waiting for the brother's '63 Catalina to get her heart back in her, then I'll be pulling mine.
Going on a week-long trip, and I'll be taking the truck, so plenty of time to think about what to do next. Probably going to "budget build" a 4.6 3v with forged internals. Last I looked (it's been a while), there were some good looking forged motors for sale here, so I might go that route too.
I had a GT450 supercharger kit on stock internals, it was 465whp and 455wtq at 12psi before cams and a better tune, and 14-15psi, so I'm guessing it was much closer to (if not over) 500whp.
If you're wondering, DON'T do that. Forged internals are definitely required for above 450, IMO.
FWIW, I made it about 30k miles before it blew, and I'm not easy on it, by any stretch of the imagination. Car has 86318 miles on it today.
Pics to follow along the way, but this (unfortunately) won't be a "Look at this crazy awesome ridiculous motor for 2000whp!" kind of progress thread. I'm just a poor kid with an expensive hobby.
Thanks for reading.
