Dam Billy, that really sucks. Maybe time for a iron block and a diaper under the oil pan.

Yep, as much as I hate to scrap the crank support. I feel it is causing more damage then good. I won't really know till I tear it down next Saturday. Should be really interesting to see what made the hole in the block. It looks like your typical broken rod scenario, but I have Manley Billet I beam rods, I can't imagine one of them breaking.

As far as a swap to a turbo, that is not happening right now. I feel like the car is where I want it to be power wise if I can keep the motor together. I just ran a 1.31 60 ft leaving at 2500 on the foot brake! I will have to look at the log and see how much boost it launched on. The boost curve is amazing with this 3.4 pulley. Boost was 23-24 psi on the run and only dropped to 21.5 on the 1-2 shift.

I feel like I want to rebuild it as is without the crank support, but more cubes was in the plan for this winter anyhow, so IDK. I have a perfect 07 block in my garage right now.

I would say consider the stock stroke Manley forged crank. Wish mine was done so I could give some real world feedback.

WTF you gotta be kidding, not again! Definitely curious to see what happened this time. Is this the block you have a couple sleeves in?

You guys need to get this crap figured out so I can get mine built. In all seriousness, that sucks man.

Would the boss block be a good upgrade?

The good: you got a few good runs with that awesome setup!
The bad: you've got to keep it up or do better now with another engine build, no backing down, no going back to slower speeds!

I feel for you. It seems that every time you get the car running it is another motor rebuild. Hopefully the next one will let you run until you WANT to rebuild.

I'm looking into all options right now.
Damn Billy, sucks.

Yep! Lots of hard work.

Yes it is but I have ran many sleeves before without issue. That all these blocks are is alum with steel sleeves.

What harmonic balancer are you using?

Did you have your lower pulley high speed balanced?

IW balancer with IW lower pulley. Balancer was fresh back from IW after the hub seizer last time. My crank is balanced with the balancer and pulley but not the steel mandrel for the crank support. I'm really leaning to the mandrel being the issue in this and the last failure. Just need to see what happened this time.

Not sure, that what I was wanting to build this winter. 326 big bore stroker.
BOSS blocks aren't good with high RPM's.

I haven't done a ton of research on them yet, enlighten me...

Man that sucks, but you have a good attitude about it and the skills to fix it.
I can fix anything, do I want to, hell no.

I really want a big bore stroker but I am getting nervous anout them at high HP and rpm the more I read.
I do have my eye on a 304" stock stroke big bore with 7 passes on it I'm looking into. Eagle crank with Manley pistons and Billet I beam rods. Not sure if the C/R is what I want though.
Billy sorry it hear, it plain sucks!
Not the way I like to finish a track day!

That was the plan this winter.

Sonuvabitch! Hate to hear that man...

Thanks.

If memory servers me right on the current motor you were going for 12+ compression ratio and your putting in 23-24 psi. Do you think your over pressuring the block and the week link in the setup is the rotating rods? What do you think the actual cylinder pressure is?

Videos rom last Saturday . Second on it about 70-115 mph in 2.5 seconds. The power was amazing!

Pretty damn high! Lol

I will know more after the tear down. You know me, you will see all the carnage.

Can't imagine it being any higher then the guys running lower C/R and 30+ psi.

I can't imagine breaking a Billet I Beam rod from the setup I'm running.

Just another reason I'm leaning towards this SB I have a lead on. It's around 9.8:1 in a Big Bore block with stock stroke and 304". With my milled heads that would bring me down from 12:1 to 11:1 C/R or so and unshrouded the valves some to work better with my hogged out heads. I may try this SB and if I like it, got to the 326 stroker version this spring. I still need to get all the details on the SB though. It's in a really fast turbo car now making the numbers I want to run.

I did the Wallace Racing Calculater Compression Ratio Calculator and with 12:1 and 23psi boost and I guessed at the alt. of 400' comes out to
The Effective Boosted Compression Ratio from your Boost of 23 psi is 19.14 : 1
Now with 9.8:1 and say 30psi come out to The Effective Boosted Compression Ratio from your Boost of 30 psi is 17.01 : 1

That's a little bit of a difference. It may be to much for the rod bearings to handle.

Just thinking of things in my head. It will be interesting to see what you find.

Makes 2-3 psi reving it in the garage. Lol

So, looking at the log The car made 1.58 psi at 2500, then as I was reacting to the light made 4.53 by 3000, then 6 psi at wot. Then hit 23 psi within 1 second of wot!

I guess that explains the 1.31 60 ft on the foot brake at 2500!!! Lol
