My 2009 Gt is equipped with Ford Racing Hot Rod cams, a Vortech V3 tuner kit, charge motion delete plugs, 60lb Ford injectors, and DeatschWerks 340lph in tank pump. Per the Vortech manual I installed Fresh OE spark plugs. After tuning it came down to 407 RWHP, with some drive ability concerns mainly on take off, below 2000 RPM. We also ran into some spark knock over 5000 RPM so we pulled timing and I've been running 50/50 mix 91 and 110 octane fuel. I would like to eliminate the stumbling below 2000 RPM and when rolling on the throttle while cruising. Is this possible with a draw through setup or do I need to go with a blow through MAF setup? I also would like to get away from the 110 octane do to price, should I go with a methanol injection kit or go with an intercooler? Just looking for some opinions/ideas.

Shouldn't be having those kinds of issues at that relatively low hp level. Everything sounds like tuning to me. First off though is that your injectors are way too big for the application. Too big of an injector may be giving your tuner a hard time with the low rpm drive-ability. There should be no need for the fuel mix at that power level. As long as your air temps aren't that bad, and the timing is good, you should be fine with pump gas. Those cams probably ain't helping your tuner either with low end driving. Do you have gears or a converter? Again, everything sounds tune related. Who is doing your tuning?

I had hot rod cams in my engine and when i added my Paxton SC had similar issues and ended up switching to Comp Cam's Detroit Rockers SC cams and drive-ability greatly improved

1. Hot Rod cams are not blower friendly but a good tune can improve driveability.
2. The 60lb injectors are way too big. A set of 39lb injectors would suffice at that power level.

Prior to the vortech I was also running the GT500 throttle body with adapter. Due to fitment I reinstalled the stock throttlebody. Before tuning I still had great throttle response while moving car around garage and onto trailer to take to tuner. They used my cam tune and adjusted it for the current setup, but stated they had a lot of trouble due to the smaller throttlebody. I'm leaning towards a tuning issue. Also my car was originally tuned with SCT programmer. When tuned for vortech setup they used HP tuners. What is your opinion on going with smaller injectors and the Ford 0 degree cooler heat range spark plugs? I just feel that drive ability should be better and power should be higher than the 407hp. Car also has 4.10 Gears and is a manual. Just looking for some insight.

If I remember correctly my friend was running the 60s on his DOB blown car with hot rods as well. He had issues with low end driving and the tuner explained that the 60s have a weird spray pattern and are and older design. He bought a set of gt500 47 I think and found that they were able to get it driving much nicer.

I have hot rods and a dob blower making 11lbs (2.875 pulley) and it runs great on 94 here thanks to Lito

Yeah the 47/52's and Lito will definitely fix this. I have found these injectors NOS on ebay a few times, for not much money.

I would start with Lito and go from there, I ran 60s on my car for a while without issues, pre Lito of coarse though.

He also has lots of experience with the hot rod cams, we used them in my son's car with Lito tunes.

lito is the best 3v tuner around he had my car running perfect after a dob install. 47lb injectors from a 07-12 gt500 and 52lbs from 13-14 gt500 i believe is what they are referring to.

Thank you. I appreciate the direct answer with no sarcasm.

Paxton 2200, hot rods, long tubes, cmdp etc. First had a dyno tune from a local big name shop. Car BUCKED when cold, and first gear/parking lots had lots of stuttering. Told them I thought their tune was terribad and wanted them to work on it some more. They asked for another 500 bucks. I emailed Lito.

His BASE tune fixed this all. No data logging, no changing anything. Fixed. And then it just got better, and faster, and more mpg...

Lito is so good I decided to keep my 3v and build it just to keep him as a tuner rather than go Coyote.

Thank you for your input. I'm going to email him. I won't say anything bad about my current tuner due to him being a very nice guy. He's honest when he is unsure. Where can I find an email for Lito? Also where is he located?
