I suspect this won't be my last question, so perhaps this would be a good ongoing thread for me to ask "in over my head" rookie questions.

Putting in a Brenspeed B326 into my 2008 Mustang GT. As with many builds, I have been hit with delay after delay. Supposed to be a "swap out, swap in" type of deal, but you know how it goes.

Anyway, my question now: The original OEM motor had provisions for two knock sensors in the top of the motor (see first picture), and there are two sensors on the wiring harness. The Brenspeed B326 has a spot for only one sensor (second pic). What am I missing?

Helpful beyond belief. Worthy of a Facebook Mustang group post.

Anyway, I'm wondering whether having sensors at each bank is less important with the Brenspeed because it's an iron block versus the original aluminum OEM motor.

Chill out man, its a joke.

From my research, it appears that many high boost applications don't even use them. Especially with blowers, as they can cause issues with false positives. I would definitely reach out to Brenspeed and see what their intentions were originally.

AFAIK, the knock sensors can have their sensitivity adjusted in software. I sure as heck would not shut them off in the tune. The common complaint is knock sensors can false trip right after a blower install, due to vibrations from the PD blower. So the..'fix' was to shut em off. IMO, dumb idea, and asking for trbl. Just have their sensitivity reduced in the tune..just enough, so they don't false trip with the blower running at max rpm.

That makes sense, to a degree. I would assume at some point(higher rpm/different blowers), the sensitivity may be so low they would be worthless?

Story I got was they are backed down just a little bit. Lito would be the fellow to ask. In 2009, Roush started turning off the KS in their tunes...(per Justin @ VMP) When I had VMP re-tune it, they put the KS back on. Never had issues with it. If it detects knock, it pulls back the timing.

Interesting. I agree, Lito, or other reputable tuners would be able to answer both questions probably (why only 1 knock sensor on new block, and is it necessary for his application).

What to do with the knock sensors is definitely a question I would ask Brenspeed. I would be surprised to learn they are not used in that motor. The Knock sensors are active in the Brenspeed tune I’m running.

I’m very interested in this 326 build. Especially the rpm it feels a comfortable Shifting Point. It’d be great if you can let us know the ups and downs on this build. How soon till running?

Gonna be a bit. Still waiting on supercharger kit parts, plus in the middle of a home move. Not enough hours in the day. I'm guessing late August.

So far, I'm not impressed with Brenspeed's attention to details, but the owner has been good about making things right where practical . . . long story. Not going to elaborate online though unless I find the shortcomings translate to the actual motor build.

I'm running an N/A B326 for about 6 weeks now, I love the thing. Next 3-4 weeks I'll have boost on it.
