My friend's 2011 was an automatic. I was able to out sixty him by 3 tenths. Only reason I didn't leverage that into a solid smack down on ET is due to the fact I was on the stock clutch and transmission and didn't drive the car like I stole it.

Our mph was nearly identical though which to me was the most interesting part of the comparison.

Gearing will help MPH too. Not a ton, but it will. And I'm not sure if it helps at 100 but the 2010 cars are quite a bit slippier.

That is something I noticed about the MT-82. My buddy has the track pack and he does about 2300 RPM in 6th at 70mph. While I can do the same RPM at almost 80 in 5th. Granted he has 3.73's I still figured he would get lower revs with an extra gear.

I hate my Mt-82. It's geared stupid low. I'd like to put a 6060 in it.

Gearing a HUGE part here. A MT-82 is geared a LOT shorter than a TR-3650 (or a M6 vs a 5R55S). Like to equal out the gearing of a Coyote/MT82 with 3.73's you would need to run 4.56's behind a 3v/TR3650.

Put a set of 4.56's behind a 3v/blower combo and it will straight up leave a Coyote.

Yeah Coyote's feel fast, they have super short gearing. And they 1/4mi fast, that's what short gearing is for.

Realistically, a bolt-on 3V with Cams is not taking down a modded 5.0 and is barely beating/keeping up with a well driven stock 5.0.

3V's are great cars on the street or racing at a track since they are so easy to launch. Especially in an auto where you sit back, relax and hit the gas. Your average bolt-on/cammed 3V is running 12.4-12.6 @ 108-110, whereas stock 5.0's have run 12.4-12.6 @ 112-114 with a good driver, hell, even with Autos. Stock for Stock, close race. Once you start modding the 5.0, race is over.

The MT82 is the best part of the car! FuckaTR6060. POS trans.

I've got a 6060, MT82, T-56 Magnum and had a 3650. I know what I like and what I don't like.

The MT82 is a stupid gearbox unless all you want to do is take it to the drag strip. It sucks as a street trans and sucks on the road course.

This thread is about a N/A 3V Vs. a 5.0. Do you truly think a Bolt-on + Cammed 3V is a good race for a bolt-on 5.0? That's the impression I am getting.

Both cars (Cammed+Bolt-on/Geared and Tires 3V and a STOCK 5.0 run 12's) my comment is, once you compare that N/A 3V to a MODDED 5.0, the race is over.

I "chuckled' at you calling me out though, and making this personal and about you. What does your car run?

I, too, have had one of each, except the magnum. The TR6060 was the worst one. Grinding all the time, stone cold blocking gears, and notchy as hell. I loved my GT500....but that transmission ruined the car.

I didn't have any trouble from my 3650 or my T45s. I love the way the MT82 is geared. If I want to row gears I can do it on the street without having to lay the hell into the throttle. If I don't, I can skip every other gear and shift half as many times. Best of both worlds IMO.

best advice I have taken was to supercharge and gear and save a lot of money to get to the power level I wanted, our cars respond really well to it and I haven't had any trouble with coyote cars or anything else yet especially from a dig it is no joke

I had to go back and read your post again. I was incorrect in assuming we were still on the subject of 3v/blower vs Coyote.

There is no doubt that NA to NA the Coyote crushes the 3v. The street is not a "NA class" though. You can run anything you want.:beerdrink:

Honestly, I would choose different goals that reach a more broad spectrum then just hanging with a 5.0. The 5.0 and the cars they come in are simply better stock for stock. One was ended in 2010, and the other one is still available today, what do you expect, its newer, its gonna be generally better.

However, this does not stop any 3v from being fast. There are 8 second 1200hp 3v stangs out there. There are 3v stangs that can fly around turns with the best of them and there are 3v stangs that can be driven every day and lay the smackdown on command.

build the car to be fast, or turn, or win a specific class of racing, or something broad like that. I just don't see the point of building a car just to outrun one other specific car.

Some people have a need to just "keep up" I never got it but people will literally dump thousands BECAUSE they got beat by some other car.

Maybe a tiny penis thing?
Others do it because they like to mod and enjoy the effects at the track/road course/ etc... but simply modding for someone else... nah never understood it.
I've seen tons of post that start like "...so my neighbor just got..." or "this kid at school has xxxx, what can i do to beat him".. "how do I beat the new..." Like they are really modding THEIR car because other people are faster? isn't that an insecurity thing?
Like what is physically going to happen to your body if you lose?

I want to be the stealthy fucker, the one that the zo6 or boosted coyote didnt think was worth their gas. But honestly its not so much as wanting to keep up with the new cars as much as it is a ricky bobby thing. I wanna go fast
