ok one more question. obviously need head gasket and new seals oring etc.

i seen the factory uses MLS gaskets which im told is what you want for boost as i bought a set for my twin turbo LS motor and my turbo Dakota.

just wanna know before i buy if there is better head gaskets to buy. thanks

Only gaskets you absolutely need are head gaskets, everything else is re-useable. Be a good idea to change the rear crank seal if you are so inclined.

The OEM MLS head gaskets are a great piece, no need for anything "better" You can buy a Ford Racing 3V head change kit on eBay for $100 If you try and buy just the head gaskets from ford or anywhere else for that matter they will be about $75 each.

I’m running the stock MLS head gaskets and have been POUNDING on them with 20psi, pump gas and REDICULIOUS ECT/ IAT’s.:omfg:

Running ARP studs though.

Gonna turn the blower up to 11 here soon and see what these head gaskets will take.

11.... what?
OK another question.
I'm guessing cams are $1000 or so. For only minimal 30hp.
Worth it. I want lope and on a booster motor. Possible? Brenspeed said not really. Seems link and crown running cams?
Thanks

11 is a Spinal Tap reference.

Comp 127550 will give you power and lope. Even if you don't do cams upgrade the springs for a boosted motor and higher rpms.

Broke dafuk down
I think the cams were "ok". Depends on what your goals are. I am running the comp 127350 which is a pretty mild cam and works well with the boost. Not sure if I would pay the money again as I think you can still get to 600 hp without them on your setup. If not.. put them in later.. It really is TOO much money for cams IMO. 1K can buy insurance elsewhere. People will hear you when you hand them their ass anyway lol.

I agree with upgrading the springs tho. That, OEM gaskets, and definately ALL ARP hardware.. down to balancer bolt. ARP is not cheap but certainly worth it. Make sure you follow the manufacture recommendation on lube, torque spec etc.

ARP 2000 rod bolts are nice, but the rods HAVE to be spec for them. You can't just buy a rod with any old bolt and then use an arp 2000. They will likely be out of round if you do. What people do not realize is the magic and most of the strength of the rod comes from the rod bolt.

They are GT500 headlights. I took them apart and did the swap myself. I have a build thread I'll post link for ya.

I have all ARP hardware minus crank bolt I'll see if I can find one.

Brenspeed recommended FRPP hot rods or their Detroit rockers

I wouldn’t do cams until you are swapping up to a larger blower in the future. All strung out the M112 will not be able to keep up anyway when you start spinning that thing. Running cams probably won’t do much aside from kill torque…..and your wallet.

Do good valve springs like every one else recommended though.

When you do cams go with the Comp 127550's. I went with the 350's and they are not worth it.

11 is a Spinal Tap reference.

Thank you sir.:thumb:

So to lighten this thread up I have a 99 dodge Dakota rt as well. I make a bunch of billet stuff for them as well. As well as large or really large big brake kits. Using viper or ZO6 corvette parts. Anyway I had a pro charger and now a turbo. Blew the head gaskets about a year ago. So figured I had two weeks before the motor was done on the mustang so I'd try and get the Dakota knocked out quick. And ceramic coat all the exhaust for the mustang and Dakota as well. Seeing how I do my own now ;)

So here is a video of before we tore her down last night.

And here is the tear down results
