I figured id reach out here to see what you all think. im looking at the cxracing kit and im pretty much set on it. I have ordered a manual boost controller as a back up but it looks like the wastegate from cx is rated at 8psi which is too much i believe for my set up. using rough calculation of 7% gain per lb of boost I should only be running 5-6lb. can i order a simple turbosmart 5 or 6lb wastegate spring?
im at 330/330 right now. at 5lb of boost that would be about 445whp. does that sound about right? what all am i missing? any valuable input is greatly appreciated.

If you want to run less boost, get a lighter wastegate spring.
    They are pretty cheap.

5-6 psi on an otherwise stock 4.6 3V should put you in the 380-400 whp range.

EDIT: whoops. missed your at 330 whp currently.

I was thinking about changing the spring just didnt know if i needed one specific for the 44mm wastegate from cx or if any will do as long as it has the proper rating?

Any spring for a 38mm or a 44mm wastegate should work, it just needs to fit inside and hold the diaphragm.
I bought the ones I needed on either Amazon or Ebay, can't remember.

    awesome thanks.
does any one know if there is a check valve in the breathers for the valve covers? or do i need to go to a atmospheric vent so i dont pump in boost pressure?

There is a PCV valve inside the valve cover on the driver's side.

Other than that, I'll leave it to you to decide how you want to run your PCV or breather system. Personally, I cut the PCV valve out of the d/s valve cover and run a catch can with a breather on both sides.

What mods do you currently have for the 330rwhp/330rwtq? Those will have a bearing on what you're likely to get when boosted.

    @Dino Dino Bambino
As far as enigne mods. udp, jlt bumper air inlet piping, jlt 3 cai, 62mm tb, tb spacer, sniper manifold and rails, 27lb injectors, hotrod cams, shorty headers, orx pipe, 93 tune 180t stat.

with the coming kit ill be adding frrp 47lb injectors, e85 rated 340lph fuel pump, ba5000 maf, exhaust cutout switch, step colder plugs

Since you'll be installing a turbo kit, the only mod you won't be retaining is the JLT intake tube, and the off-road X-pipe would need to be modified to route the hot side to the turbo.
The "safe limit" for the stock connecting rods is ~450rwtq, so you'll need to limit boost at maximum TQ to ~5.5-6.0psi. Therefore a 6psi wastegate spring should do fine.

You don't require 1 step colder plugs. VMP tells me the 1 step colder plugs are required when boost hit's 10.2 psi.... on a 4.6 L.

I have 5.8 psi with my M90. I did install new brisk plugs...gapped to .035". With 8 lbs of boost, then the gap is reduced to .032". On NA cars, normal gap is .060" or 1.5 mm.

You could run 8-9 lbs and if the tuner knows what they are doing with a stock 3v, they will reduce timing near peak torque to keep the motor alive and bring a bit more back up higher and make another 30-50hp.

The spark plugs were more of a maintenance thing since I was in there. i was thinking about running 6psi boost.
ill be adapting the turbo down pipe to the x pipe or axel pipe depending on how things go.
its still a bit out since i have to modify the kit and update it. i may also send the hot side off for ceramic coat. not 100% sure on that part yet.

Are you going to run hot rod cams with a turbo?

Interesting, CX racing says $3100 with turbo upgrade, what else is needed ?

    Injectors(lbs needed 39 or 47 ?)
    fuel pump upgrades(what is needed?)
    boost gauge, gauges ?

@Rugermack you need injectors and a fuel pump or bap and what ever gauges you want. youll need a tune and tuner. i think thats it.
I went with 47lb injectors and a 340lph fuel pump. we will see how it all goes later.
