Yeah thats the one I used and had trouble with.

or so you think at this point,lol....im curious if its a issue with the twin disk? you would think a twin disk is a little thicker and would need a shorter slave??

anyone measured the thickness between the 2?

Nope, thats the one I used, i bought it new, its not short like the new style, I went and looked at a pic i took of it in my build thread when it came in. The gt500 uses a twin disc and the 3650/6060 slaves are the same.... so your guess is as good as mine.

Jeremy, Its hard to tell from the pic of the trans with the slave installed but I only count 4 or 5 ribs on the green rubber. The new one (4r3z) and also the other one you pictured has 7 ribs.

I honestly hate our clutch setups. Im having so many problems with my slave lately, im just so tired of having to bleed and fix it and all this bullshit. Im ready to get rid of this car because of it.

I finally got the newer slave in to compare to the older style:

05-09 GT/GT500 Slave is the taller one, the '10 GT500 style slave is the shorter one. As you can see, there's a significant difference. Not sure if that's going to solve your problem.

Man its probably a good thing I tried to send that shorter slave off to Poe otherwise this info would have slipped right through the cracks. Thanks for the pics^^^^

For sure!

It still would have worked though, they are interchangeable the shorter one is just a newer design. They arent 6060 specific its also used in the 2010 with the 3650.

And the new slave looks to be about an inch, inch and 1/4 shorter tops.

93cobra, let me see if i understand how these work. The slaves rest on the pressure plate fingers and is compressed when installed, then when you push in the clutch the fluid fills the cylinder and pushes the outside back out on to the pressure plate which disengages the clutch. So it seems because the earlier design is longer it would have more load/or clamping force which could sometimes keep the clutch from fully disengaging. ?

Actually the 2010 4.6L still uses the 4R3Z part number. Technically the only setup that uses the AR3Z slave is any 6060 with a 2010 clutch. The new 5.0L's use a new "BR3Z" part number that is also the longer design (it's actually exactly the same as the 4R3Z slave, except the metal line is different).

I would think the older/longer style slave would disengage the clutch better than the newer/shorter style. The longer the reach the more push it would have on the pressure plate fingers and the better the release on the disc/s. That must not be the case though.

I have an '09 GT500 clutch/flywheel here, and I'll have a '10 GT500 clutch/flywheel here in a couple days. I would like to lay them both side by side as an assembly and see if there's a "height" difference. I'll bet the '10 GT500 clutch/flywheel assembly is thicker/deeper/taller overall and requires the use of the shorter slave.

In an installed inactive position, there should be a small gap between the slave/throwout bearing and the pressure plate fingers. Contact should only be made once you press in the clutch pedal. If you were to use the longer slave on a deeper/thicker clutch assembly the bearing would be in contact with the pressure plate 100% of the time and tob failure would be sure to come.

I think you still need the longer slave. I just think something was wrong with the one you had.

You the man! Thanks for the info, and look foward to what you find out.

I was thinkig I still need the longer slave as well.

So the cylinder actually extends out when you press in the clutch?
