Yeah im almost positive when the clutch is pushed down..the slave pushes out. It would only make since that way.

You the man! Thanks for the info, and look foward to what you find out.

I was thinkig I still need the longer slave as well.

So the cylinder actually extends out when you press in the clutch?

Yes, when you press the clutch pedal, pressure forces the cylinder to extend outward which is what presses against the fingers of the pressure plate and releases the clutch discs.

Sorry to hijack..but do you know what would cause the slave to just not extend completely? Or if it was extending completely, why it wouldnt be completely disengaging the clutch?

Mcleod flywheel shipped finally! Should be here wednesday.
So hopefully get the flywheel and new slave swapped in later in the week.

This time around it will be:
Mcleod 99-2010 Steel flywheel
Mcleod RST 26-spline clutch
And new oem slave (05-09 GT, 07-09 GT500)

I have a jpc ss clutch line as well.

Well I hope all goes well. I put the new trans in last week and the clutch (ram powergrip) has just gotten worse. From what I read and have been told, the slave cant handle the pressure it takes to disengage the clutch after a while. And it sucks cause the clutch works great when its doing what its supposed to haha.

Ill be swapping in the exedy mach 400 with a new slave. From what I have read, thats the way to go for my setup. I think we should make some sort of sticky thread for clutch setups that work and have been tested. I would have never bought that damn ram if i knew what i do now. Or maybe a thread about which clutches work well with the stock slave? Idk. Figure we all need something we could reference quickly so fellow members dont go through what we have.

Yeah, stiffer pressure plates on stronger single disc clutches reak havoc on our slaves. Thats why the twin disc's work so much better, as they have stock or softer than stock pressure plates so its easier on the slave cylinder. Probably a good reason why ford put twin disc clutches in the gt500 from the factory.

any updates on your results?

I just went with an RST on my tr3650 with an exedy steel fly wheel and a new slave. clutch feels great then after about 500 (highway) miles the car starts getting stuck in 2nd gear (low speeds 5mph) but it only does it occassionally. I tried re-bleeding system but their isn't any air in the system. I'm running the jpc line as well. At speed the car shifts great. Today had the car in 2nd pulling into the drive, I push the clutch to the floor and the shift lever won't move. Now for the fun part the car keeps moving forward up the driveway with the clutch in!? Tried for like 5 minutes to get the car to do the same thing again but it wouldn't? Slave or something seriously wrong with the tranny?

Update!

So the fidanza 99-04 flywheel and the mcleod 99-10 flywheel look exactly alike. Mike set them beside each other and studied them/measured and they are the same thickness and everything. So looks like the flywheel was not an issue.
He is going to a make larger "window" lol on the bottom of the bellhousing so he can see how the new slave sits in relation to the pressure plate with everything reinstalled and go from there.

At least I can rule out the flywheel now, thats a relief. Just got to see how the slave sits and the measurements look right, may have just been a bad slave before with too much air or something. We shall see!

Yeah hopefully have this figured out soon!
