So I cant figure out on what cams to go with. I have searched already and gone through all the "which cams" threads and all they have done is help me narrow it down. Just need a few opinions on guys who have these cams and similar mods.

Cam choices are (in order) :

Detroit Rockers

BBR Stage 1's

FRPP Hot Rods

My mods are:

FRPP 4.10's, Pypes longtubes W/ Pypes O/r X, Bassani Race, JLT CAI, MGW Shifter.

When I put the cams in i also will be installing CMDP's and GT500 TB.

I will be pulling the trigger by friday on these.
Any and all opinions will be appreciated!!

thanks

BBR Stage1's

I've heard good things about these cams as well. it just sucks to spend that much money for 30-40 hp.. I'm used to building pushrod motors and using big solid lift cams for half the price and double the power... it's hard to justify the cost. However, I too would like cams, so I'm weighing a few things out here as well.

I think all three are pretty similar. I have no personal experience with the BBR or Detroit Rockers, but I have driven a car with the Hot Rods. Drive-ability was exactly like stock. That's a big deal for me. They drove a billion times better than my Mutha Thumprs. I think the gains with the other two are a little better, but I can't comment on drive-ability. If you've done business with BBR or Brenspeed and have liked their customer service I would go with their respective cam.

BBR Stage 1 or Detroit Rocker's would be my choice. I really like my BBRs. I can feel the car pull harder up top compared to the stock cams.

I was told by a vendor and major website that does not sell them that the Detroit rockers are the way to go... And they can tune them better than brenspeed does.....

everyone has their opinion call bbr 561-417-5555

they can work out a deal for you and my bet is that the BBR stage 1's will perform better than the other two options and my car drove like stock when i had the stage 1's in as well

I went with the FRPP Hot Rods because they are cheaper than BBR stage 1's and the Detroit Rockers.

I don't care what anyone else says, the FRPP hot rods do make power. I've done a ton of research and it seems like people who install the cams and get little to no gains typically have a tune that never adjusted for the VCT. I have no dyno numbers but there is absolutely no doubt that I gained a little up top. At the same time, there is absolutely no doubt that the low RPM's (up to 2500) feel more sluggish now.

With the amount of variance in dynos, tunes, and even from car to car, I personally just ruled out the advertising as just that, advertising.

Brenspeed pushes its detroit rockers like they are a ton better than the Hot Rods and make a lot more power but I have yet to see anyone do a side by side comparison. I've seen dynos of hot rod cams gaining like 40hp, others gain only 20. Same goes for the detroit rockets. My conclusion was that the cams were all extremely similar and the differences in power were more attributable to tuning and the vehicles themselves (like how two stock mustang GTs will dyno 10-20hp apart on the same dyno, one after the other). So with that in mind, it made no sense to get anything but the most affordable cam if it was going to do the same thing. People like to bag on the Hot Rods and say how they are a very mild cam and all that. If that's the case, then the BBR stage 1 and detroit rockers aren't much more aggressive by any means.

Like most people agree, if you want big power from a cam, you'll need to change the valve springs too.

Bottom line for me was this, and this may or may not apply to you:

-Driveability with the hot rods has always been reported as being okay
-American Muscle has done a tone of hot rod tunes, a lot more than the other tuners (I asked pretty much everyone of them, only AmericanMuscle had the balls to guarantee me a spot on tune--others told me it would take revisions--I asked them what would happen if we just couldn't get the tune dialed in and they said "I don't know").

Anyway, now I can be a bitch like UltraKla$$ic:
