Very good thread. I have been thinking about cams for my ride. How much of a gain would I get if I were to get the BBR stage 1 or Hot Rods with my current mods. M90 Blower, 2.49 Pulley, KB Boost a pump. I am currently at 435RWHP and 420torque. Thanks in advance.

The BBR Stage 1 wil definitly make more power on a boosted application than a hot rod

You can also go with the the Comp 127055 or the 127 205 since they are a blower grind they should be better suited for boosted applications

BBR Stage 2 cams VSR Specs

Gross Lift Intake- .492, Exhaust- .492
Advertised Duration Intake- 284°, Exhaust- 294°
RPM Range 2000-6500. 241/251 .050"

BBR Stage 1 cam NSR Specs

Gross Lift Intake- .480, Exhaust- .480
Advertised Duration Intake- 270, Exhaust- 276RPM Range 1500-6000.

FRPP Hot Rods Cam Specs

Duration at .050", intake 221, exhaust 240 ,
lobe separation 110 degrees

You can see the difference from the FRPP and our stage 1's.

While I'm not the greatest at cam information I don't get the above comparison.... Advertised duration vs duration @ .050" shouldn't be compared.

BBRs are advertised as:

227/233 .050" duration
.480/.480 lift
114 LSA

And FRPPs are:

221/240 .050"
.472/.472 lift
110 LSA

With that information you can really see the difference but from what you posted you really don't have any good info on either cam. You have your cams lift without any info on the FRPPs and advertised duration is anywhere the cam manufacturer desires... from what I've gathered its actually pretty bad not to advertise at the standard .050"

This is just my opinion and feel free not to agree with it I honestly don't think its a good way to advertise any information against another companies cams.

Actually you mean wider LSA. The 110 is tighter and increases cylinder pressure N/A. So with a supercharger or turbo it would have more a higher boost reading but make the same power as a wider LSA cam making lower boost reading. The tighter LSA would run the risk of detonation before the wider LSA cam.

But honestly either way with the stock block you can get the same max power out of each cam eventually.

Yes that's what I meant just got them mixed up and you do have a point for power being maxed out on stock block... But in the long haul I feel if your going to use boost get cams to match

^ I had the comp stage 2 blower cams in my car before the BBR stage 2's. I picked up 20ish rwhp with the Comp and almost 40 with the stage 2s. Plus the fact you can hear the cams now. You would have had no idea i had the comp cams. Wasn't impressed at all. (my own experience remember)

Also, was good talking to ya saturday. Enjoy the stage 1's.

Do you have any videos of your car with the stage 2s Steve? I would like to hear how they sound on a single turbo car.
