I was definitely not on a public highway.

Yeah, boosting in 5th is a bad idea for people on stock internals.

I found an aluminator a couple hours away. Gonna give the guy a call. At this point, I've decided to build the motor myself. The biggest reason is that I want the experience. Right now, between graduating and going Active Duty Air Force, I have more free time than I will have for quite a while.

I dont doubt Bruce's longblock would work, and also possibly save me money (it would definitely be easier), I'm more interested in the experience, however.

Thanks for the input so far!

Sorry to hear
I am doing a similar rebuild on my buddy's 08 Roush stg3
It broke #7 rod in half and poked it thru the block in several places. It ran still but it was a massive milkshake machine.

"You've gotta pay to play" is the expression which comes to mind. Either pay for a proper motor for the power, or pay for a new motor when you blow it.

The carnage is something I'm REALLY looking forward to. If you're going to blow a motor, at least hope it was done right, right? (except for the heads....fingers crossed)

I will upload photos here as soon as I get back home next week and get the motor out and taken apart.

Oh man...sorry to hear that! Nothing worse than hearing those sounds and seeing the smoke. Made me about sick to my stomach. But don't worry, it gets better. Looking forward to your build.

That was one of the things I enjoyed most about tearing my motor apart after it blew. It was comical how much of it was in my oil pan.

My heads had a little bit of scarring on them from the pistons letting loose. Pretty sure my valves are bent as well. I'm just having my builder machine out my combustion chamber to fix the scarring.

How far over are you boring?

Which valves are you using?

Bought a forged crank today. Will be here next week.
Tomorrow will tell if I will get the FRPP Aluminator block or not. 6hr round trip to get it.

Listed my cams on Facebook (dont have the right pics to post here yet) since I'll now be going with blower cams.

Brother's Catalina will be out of the shop Wednesday, making room for the next motor job.

Fun stuff! Happy Sunday!

Here's a spec sheet:

Gladly! Keep in mind this is my 17 year old brother's car (lucky bastard.... I started with a '94 S10 -- Which I'm again driving while this build happens)

Nice car.

Those cams probably don't do too well locked out or at higher rpms. You should gain a lot of power with a different cam.

Are they "Mutha Thumpers"?
