I've known since day one that my paint has been shit. And have not really cared. But thought I'd wax the car today and now it's starting to bug me.

The car looks great from 10ft but you get closer its just completely fucked. It's only the hood, top and trunk lid that's messed up . pics to follow

Now is there anything I can do about this ? Or just a repaint? Buddy at a dealership said that the cause of this is from sitting in parking lots of chemical plants . Is there anything to correct it, maybe a wet sand ?

Help me out here guys.

Do you think it is thru the clear? Can you catch a fingernail on it?

Epic title! LOL!!!! Clever.

Have a pro 1500 grit and bring it out up to 2000 grit with a professional buff. Worst case scenario you'll have to repaint.

BLACK FTL!!!!!!:thud:

Hmm......depends on the paint and body shops reputation down here. Maybe $3-500. First take it to a shop you TRUST and get their opinion on it. Tell them EXACTLY what you expect in the finished results and see if they can attain those results BEFORE you commit. If they can't, no harm no foul and you know where you are with it.

By the time you pay a quality shop to do all the above, you should look at the aftermarket hood of choice. Weigh the costs and decide. Good luck man!

P.S. A carbon fiber hood would look pretty badass on your ride!

If I do I'll take it to the place I've been going to for years. Not Davids shop(Fullboogie) ... Lol I had to . I do hope he gets It squared away though .

if its in the clear, time for a respray.

If it's just surface, you could probably buff it off with an orange compounding pad or a purple foam wool.

If it's just barely imbedded, wet sand it.

It's hard to tell in the pictures, but I think it's time to price a paint job. They can blend it over into the "good" paint with no problems. If you sand that out, there won't be much paint left to work with.

I priced a paint job a few years ago and with keeping my stripes and pinstripes he said roughly $3k. And that was by a very good shop .
