Got a text earlier today that the heads should be done tomorrow!

I just hope I can make it back to town to pick them up. If not he will meet me there Sat. sometime if I don't have to go to San Antonio on Sat. I am swamped at work right now with two big projects, so IDK.

I guess I need to call Poldyn tomorrow and see where they are at on the ceramic coating and polishing of my JPC intake and valve covers.

Also decided today to retard the cams 6* instead of 4* and the degree them to see where they can in at, after talking more with Manuel. With the 3800 stall and the 12.0:1 stroker, I think the bottom end will be there just fine.

Good news about the heads anyway! Good luck Billy.

Im really excited about them and really glad I found this guy. Man, he REALLY knows what he is doing. It makes sense why he is spending so much of his time to teach others how to do it now, he really likes to explain everything he is doing.

After I get them back I will compress a valve spring and take a pic.

Also why not make a test with cylinder heads after putting the valves on. Put them upside down and pour gas in each chamber. If there is a leak between the valve and seat you would know right away.

I'm waiting to see these heads. We use a vacuum setup to check for leaks.

I'm sending my headers to Swain for ceramic coating this week so they should be back when I get back from /No Problem raceway next weekend.

They have been vacuum tested.

Are they going to be flowed again after the valve job?

Are you still flowing a stock head?

I should have the new flow numbers tomorrow.

Don't know if I will flow a stock head or not. Its time to go back together.

Billy the heads should almost be done. Im working as fast as i can.....See you soon.

I picked up the heads today. They look great! The valves are now seated square to the guide bore now. He said they looked really bad and wondered how much power was loosing due to the crap valve job I had. We assume the issue came about when I switched to the bronze valve guides. The issue is the valves where not making an even contact on the seat and some of them where leaking a bit. He is going to send me some pics he took as he was doing the work so you can see the before and after of it all. Here is a pic showing the valves in there new homes and a copy of the gains on the flow numbers. They really picked up in the middle. He said he was a bit surprised at how much they picked up in the middle, he was expecting the gains to be mainly on the low end. It picked up a little up top as well, but like I said before , this bench is known to be a heart breaker. He also said if I get him a scrap 3v head he will do some testing on it.

Check out the gains in the middle from the valve job!

Those are some good numbers and the heads should work even better now you have the valves where they should be.

Send me some contact info.. I may just send him a set to port etc and I have a couple cores too.
Will do.

Yea, 9-12 cfm in the middle and they should be at about 270 CFM at 600 lift. Not bad at all! It will be interesting to see what a stock set does on his bench.

^^^How could you dirty the thread with that kinda talk lol.

on another note Billy, you still using the 127550's or did you go with custom grind cams?

I am using the 127550 cams. I installed the heads and cams today. I used the TF crank gears to retard the cams 6*. I then degreed the cams and am coming up with a 118 intake center line. This doesn't sound right, I was expecting a much lower number. Very confused right now.

Is there a good right up on the Trick Flow gears anywhere?
