Well it looks like I will start another build thread with a new motor. I just blew my motor. Had my tuner with me and he was datalogging on his laptop. I punched it, I was watching the boost gauge and it showed 11lbs I let off and then got back in it. The gauge crept up and then jumped to 17lbs like no one's business and BANG, Black smoke out the back, no oil pressure and a clanky motor.

Damn Boozshey....Sorry to hear about the motor. I bet you were sick to your stomach when that happened, I know I would be if mine went right now. Goodluck with the rebuild, I'm guessing forged internals and all the goods this time around. Keep us updated.

My buddy Steve told me his cobalt ss blew up too the other day....the #4 piston failed and he just got his motor built and blower ported for it over the winter. That car has been sitting since spring of 2009....his was a tuning issue as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed....:whistling:

What would cause the boost to spike to 17 if the pulley in it is for 11?

What I would do is get one of those 302 FI shortblocks from Brenspeed. Good price from a good shop.

Yeah, I am going to talk with Brenspeed tomorrow. I couldn't get ahold of JDM today, their lines are still down from what the message said. I have no idea why it would hit 17. I know I heard about the Supershaker adding 1 or 2lbs at speed and we were going 65+ at WOT. I saw 13lbs the other day and I wasn't at WOT when it happened.

I actually started laughing... My tuner (Brian) looked at me and in dis-belief and was like "Glad you're taking it well."

I learned a long time ago that I have really shit for luck and have learned not to get mad at shit like this and in all honesty with the way things have been going with it I am actually relieved in a sense cause now I don't have to worry about it.

And yes a VERY good excuse for a better bottom end.

Yeah, build that bottom end and up the boost a little. You still gonna
use the mutha thumpers?

I am thinking of putting them up for sale and just trying to talk Brenspeed into a deal on some of their cams with the new motor.

Try putting the mat on the actual door panel. I honestly don't think putting it on the door itself did much. When I turn it up, all of the plastic is vibrating. I'll get around to re-doing mine here eventually.

200w is going to be insane up front. I'm pushing 150 each to the door subs and 300 each to two 10's in the rear. I'm like a rolling concert now, lol.

The best way is to do behind the door panel and than behind each speaker on the outer skin.

Did you ever resolve anything with the issue you were having? Sure would hate to see you install a replacement engine and still have the issue.

Nope, still no idea. I will put the new motor in stock and just do it one thing at a time...

Well, that was pretty short-lived. Sorry to hear about it. Double digit boost on these engines is a definite gamble. Heck I just picked up a pulley for less boost and it's going to stay on until I have the build shortblock installed. If I damaged the blower I'd probably dine on a gun barrel.
