Iv been thinking of running a small shot of nitrous on top of my f1a for next near, IV been doing some research but not really answered my questions. Right now I'm at 18-19 psi at 6000 rpm on e85 with 13 degrees of timing, and next spring I plan on taking it up to 7500 rpm on the same pulley so I'm guessing Il be making around 23-24 psi on 10.0:1 compression. Would it be too much to run a 50 shot with that much boost? I just wanna spray to help with the low end and try to break in to the 9's next year

The timing is pretty conservative for E85. You could probably pick up as much power, if not more by just increasing timing. I run 24 degrees and 27psi with E85 on my F1A. It liked it the timing for sure. I picked up 20-25rwhp per degree of timing with no other changes made.

Well that's the plan to add more boost/timing but would it be ok on top of that? Just wanna make more torque I'm sitting at 700/610

I never ran nitrous with my combo, so I'll refrain from giving you advice there. Are you running the ATI balancer and the 12 rib system? What size pulley are you on? I'm guessing around a 4.3?

I would think you should be fine as long as you are not trying to spray the house down

05Stroker is running e85 and a F1. He is adding a direct port wet nitrous system in a couple weeks. Think he is going to start at a 75 shot and see where he ends up. Either way there will be some very very good info for you soon and on a very similar setup. Think he is around 23-25psi but lower compression? Already around 900hp lol. Bad ass car..

I run over 20psi (all my gauge will read when it pegs out lol). I have been on a small dry shot (pre-MAF) for cooling and love it. I am also going to be tuning with 05Stroker (Billy and a few others) in a couple weeks and will be throwing a 150 shot at mine. I currently run a spun-up 13 TVS on e85. I am at 8.9:1 compression tho... 150-175 is all I think I want to fool with at this level

I agree tho.. you are giving up TONS of power at 13 degrees. I am at like 25 iirc and yes there is that much difference. You are not taking full advantage of your e85.

Call Lito lol

Well the tune I'm running now is my break in that's why it's it's pretty conservative, my tuner told me to bring it back so he can turn it up after I put some miles on it. My goal is to break into the 9's up here in Denver which is pretty hard to do but if I can do it blower only I would be a lot happier. Right now I'm at 700 rwhp and 610 for torque . Would it be possible to hit 900 rwhp blower only with more boost, timing, rpm?

If your motor picked up the way mine did (~20rwhp per degree) then you have conservatively 10 degrees to add. That is another 200rwhp. Mind you my motor was a stroker, but with stock heads, cams, intake, even down to the valve springs.

Since E85 is all but impossible to cause detotation with, the best way to tune is to increase timing in 1 degree increments till you see the power drop off and then go back to the previous timing value. The Denver air isn't going to help your cause, but it wouldn't be out of the question in my neck of the woods.

Well I guess I forgot to mention the mods lol its a 302 stroker 10.0:1, ported polished heads, 127550 stage 2 blower cams, still waiting on a jpc racing intake to go on and a new throttle body( don't no which one to go with yet).

If you have weight and traction under control then I would bet in Denver you get there without nitrous. That is a big piece of the puzzle lol.. did not know it was a new motor. Yes you will be amazed on how much you will pick up with the timing. Basically add another 4.6l under the hood lol

You need 23 deg timing and 7200 rpms!

I have a wet kit, not Direct port. And yes I am going to try a 75 shot on top off my 25 psi.

Two weeks ago I ran a 9.38 at 146 with a non lock up converter on 25 psi with an F1a and 9:1 cr at 4000 lbs.

What size pulley are you running?

Those are crazy times man! I don't remember the tooth count for my upper/lower I'm running a cog drive setup, I have the info somewhere I gotta find it. I'm making around 18-20 psi at 6000 rpm so I'm trying to figure out were Il be boost wise at 7500.

With my 12 rib grooved 3.9 pulley I made 20.94 psi at 6000 rpms and 24.9 at 7550 rpms on my last couple data logs.

By the way, the mod motors sound way different at 7500 rpms!

What kind of power u putting down? We seem to have very similar setups minus the compression unless I'm missing something

I was at 807 rwhp with C16, 23 deg timing, and 20 psi, I have since switched to E85 and 24- 25 psi and given my times on the Wallace Racing calculators vrs what I was running before I am at about 900-940 rwhp now. I ran a 9.38 at 146 with a non lock up converter and would have been around 152 with a lock up. If you run the numbers that is what I came up with.

That's legit man, so you plan on running a 75 shot on top of the 25 pounds of boost? I'm asking cuz Il be around there in boost too and want to run a smaller shot like a 50 to help with the low end, but I just wanted to see if it would be ok with the amount of boost and compression I'm running,
