what fuel injectors are you running?!

edit: on another thought, i think it's too loud to be an injector ticking sound.. i wouldn't let it run for an extended amount of time unless i'm running around with a mechanic's stethoscope trying to find the exact source of the sound.. in case it's a bearing that's gone out somewhere

Sounds too lound to be internal maybe something hitting the belt or fan somewhere.
Then again its really hard to tell with out actualy being there.

I would take the belt off and run it to see if it still ticks. If it does, then the valve covers need to come off next.

Going to look at all the possibilities mentioned as soon as this rain clears up. Hoping that I won't need to see my engine builder any time soon.

Too me it sounds as if your "clicking" is coming from outside the motor. Hard to tell without being there.

As stated above take off your belt and see if there is any difference.

I long screw driver with the handle to your ear and the tip on the engine will help act as a "cheap mans" stethoscope, if you still have the clicking. Double check your exhaust, sounds funny to state that, but sometimes its a leak.

As mentioned above, take off the belt and restart. That will tell you if its any of the accessories or the belt.

I am going to guess something valvetrain related, phaser or cam follower

Car was well warmed up, I was in fifth cruising along and then I hear this noise passing under a bridge. It might've been there earlier but yesterday afternoon was the first I heard it.

I say name the noise George........

Check to make sure all the bolts are tight in the water pump. I had a similar noise coming from the front of a motor and thats all it was.

Yup, thats what I am thinking too, only because I had a sound similiar to this when I first got my engine built. It was the phaser limiters clicking back and forth. Get on youtube and search for 3v phaser noise. There is a couple of vids on there, maybe that can help you out. But I would just remove the belt before I worried my self too much.

Bad tensioner and the chain is slapping?

God I hope not. I'll let everyone know soon, going to take it to the local mustang shop and diagnose what's going on. Anybody know how much the phasers are if they need to be replaced?
