I have $400 into it and would want that plus shipping and fees. I've used a 1L block before and pushed it to 699rwhp without issue. It wouldn't be over $500, probably a little less.

I also have a shortblock that's built on a 1L block on my engine stand. It's listed in the classifieds.

This sucks, maybe air trapped in the system, overheated and expanded and cracked coolant passages? Was the block in good order before the build up?

Maybe, whatever it is it just happened Sunday morning when I went for a drive, there were no leaks at all before that and now it rains under my car!

Here's a pic of where its coming from on the DS, really weird since I can't see an obvious crack.

Ford Racing 5.0L Modular Stroker Shortblock

The Ford Racing A46X 5.0L modular stroker shortblock is a great starting point for your custom 2 valve, 3 valve or 4 valve modular engine build and will work with naturally aspirated or supercharged applications. This Ford Racing engine comes with a forged Eagle crank, forged Eagle H-beam connecting rods with floating piston pins and forged Mahle pistons. The Engine has been bored and stroked to 5.0L and has been internally balanced.
Features a re-manufactured aluminum block, powder-coated silver, Mahle Forged pistons with 10cc dish and reliefs for 3 valve heads, New high pressure oil pump, Eagle 5.850 in forged steel H beam connecting rods with ARP 2000 bolts and an Eagle 3.750 in stroke forged steel crankshaft with 8 bolt flywheel pattern. Piston to valve clearance check required depending on camshafts used. Piston to deck height clearance is 0.012 in below(nominal).

I'm sure you can sell your shortblock parts and recoop the difference.

It's the predecessor to the 3L used in 05+ 4.6 3v motors. All of them that I've had or have came from 2003 or 2004 Mach 1s. The 3L is just a little beefier in some places. 19COBRA93 can give you the exact differences.

It uses the same motor mounts, etc. The biggest difference is that one hole on the 3v front cover needs to be plugged and a little rtv needs to be used in that same spot due to a material mismatch between the motor and cover. It's not a big deal. I've read that the 1L block was also used as a replacement for the Teksid during warranty repairs.

I've thought about just getting an assembled shortblock but it would cost way more than I could pick up another bare block, machine, and reassemble with my parts. I should be able to get another block, prep it myself, and have it machined for a total of about $1,500 +/-. It sucks but at least I'll know what I have and that it's done right. The one in your link is all Eagle / Chinese steel and proprietary parts. I currently have Kellogg and Manley components that I know work well together. Thanks for the suggestion, but I'll pass on that one. I also looked into JPC or other but they cost way too much! So I'll build mine again, and will make some improvements this time around too such as the full thrust bearing set up rather than the OEM system.

Yea, if you are able to assemble the motor your self, then buying one from someone else makes the cost seem crazy.

For sure, and I think I can do it all for less than the $1,500 really. Although as I sit here with a broken block I guess my previous statement about the parts I currently have work good together is debatable, lol!

I have melted a few pistons in my time pushing limits.With me doing my own work, it usually cost me about 1k to replace a piston or two and rebuild the motor.
