just got another tune From Tony and BAM!! Issues are gone!!

I gave him the datalog to see if there were areas needed for touch up, but damn its a night and day difference. I also asked him what he changed so maybe to help other guys with cold start issues.

I have the FRPP in da trunk and a gt500 furl kit on da way... one more touch up tune when he gets back to cali and then thats it.. no more power BS.

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, glad to hear some good news, would be good if you could get a rundown of the tune items that were causing the issues, or just get the new tuning guys name and number posted somewhere so others can get their weird ass problems solved.

He told me he smoothed the fuel trims and adjusted the O2 sensor delays. Those were the main points.

I also confirmed that he will be back here in Sept for tuning.. Thats when I will have the gt500 kit and frpp intake installed..

mother F@ck!!.. I spent 50+ bucks on t-bolt clamps and none are the right size for the TB.. this is BS. Napa doesnt carry that size.. so here I go.. blow more money =-/

its because of the damn oval shape of the TB.. its throwing every measurement off.. I just cant believe no one knows the right diameter clamp on a gt500TB??

Well, got a new clamp and I'm 1-2 mm off!! Hahah. I can't win. Ahhhhhh

How?? Why?

Last week I went for a tweak in my tune to add the frpp manifold and the gt500 fuel pump.. I was not able to get the tuner that did my car before but we used his tune to tweak it. First we found out the the knock sensors were taking out tons of timing at high rpm. I have the Alum mach frpp block so I think the knock sensors had to be turned off anyways, So we did that.. then the tuner hooked up a boost gauge. I have been running the 3.40 pulley for a while and always thought it would put me at 14-15psi... but when he got on it the thing kicked to 19psi!!

I ran the 3.70ish pulley for 12lbs of boost and now my car is reading 19lbs @7K with the 3.40 pulley?? I'm not running the OD ati pulley so I dont know how in hell I can be that high in boost? We also were only making 502rwhp.. I lost hp.. he tried to up the timing but it didnt make anymore HP. He has my timing at 17 now and was able to bring the boost down a little at 17psi.. haha..

I was told the car A/F is good but running that high of boost is not good and wantes me to pulley up or buy an D1SC =-/ .. I dont get it.. I have a built block and stuff to be making close to 600+rwhp and I'm barley breaking 500 on a cold day?

I have:

built block. 9.2:1 cp
frpp manifold
Mac short tube 1 3/4 headers
60 lbs injectors
p1sc 3.40 pulley
Stock heads with livermoris valve springs.
Andersons powerpipe
gt500 TB
GT500 fuel pump
HPX
OR- h-pipe

The tuner from FL that took care of my isses never was able to make it back here when I did the gt500 pump and frpp thingie.. so I went to a local guy that worked with him before.

Dont get me wrong.. hte car runs good and hard, but I'm no where in power I should be at and I still have a little intake pop sometimes when I whomp on it..

Im just a little worried because he said I should not be running that type of boost on 91.. I just dont know why its so hi and what factors affect boost. I know rpm and pulley size, but what I hace should not put me that hi.. so what else can cause this.

I hate the idea of upping the pulley and getting even less hp.. If I was going to stay at 500 or less I would have stayed with a stock block =-/ wtf

If you are at 19 psi and 500 rwhp then you don't need to even start that car till a real tuner gets to look at it ! Don't go down this road again . Go down the road a few hundred miles for a real tune . Good luck .

Its not at that level . Take the road trip to a good tuner .

Do I understand that he has completely taken out the knock sensors? If that's the case and you're running that PSI on 91 octane I would drive it very carefully and find a good tuner quickly.

You can't data log it and send it to Tony? Also, is this the same dyno you tuned the car on originally? I know it's a lot colder here these days than you when you originally got the tune, maybe that has to do with the added boost. Just thinking here, anyway you have some bad cats? I've heard of clogged cats causing the boost to jump and the engine blow. Furthermore, I would ask Tony why he left it the knock sensor that. Shoot him an email he usually replies within a day.

I have the stock H pipe with no cats inside.. I had 527rwhp at tps on a hot day and Tony told me I had an easy 50 hp more if I get the fuel pump kit because my one FPDM was maxed, then when I did it at AED it was 504 on a cold day. I dont know is thats because the gt500 kit threw things off. The A/F was a little off then I added the frpp manifold and that got me up a little back at 527, but at that time tony was not around to adjust the tune.. we could see some issues and things to tweak but could not make changes.. so thats why I went back to AED this last week because

Tony sent him the main file to tune with. All I know is with the money I gave AED I could have paid for another full tune.. haha. and I'm still left with questions as to why my boost is so high and a tune that the tune is not sure of.. haha

Right now I'm doing some testing with Lito just to see anything magical that could be causing this.

I think this is the block I got from frpp and why I cant use knock sensors..


knock sensors are for pussies anyways :thud:
