Ignoring a friend with your mods and tuned by Lito was a massive fail. Taking a tune from a dude at diablo and assuming its safe was fail, not having a wideband was fail.

Tell him to get a new motor, and point him towards Lito, assuming he learns his lesson

atleast we see how it did so much, 4k rpm + sudden wot without tune will do it....

Yea man, before he even received everything from UPS I told him to send back that Diablo POS tuner and get an SCT & LITO, but he was excited and didn't want to listen. Lesson learned, hopefully.

Good News is there are plenty of great companies that offer a strong replacement.

Bad News is most likely timing of the event. He just spent all that money on a turbo kit and now he needs to drop more coin on a long block as I am sure the heads did not fair well either.

I agree about 7psi – (had to have been more) that or the driver ignored the detonation as he stayed WOT. To do that much damage took an effort to ignore the tell tail signs.

As a company that sells turbo kits and the past owner of Paxton Superchargers, I can tell you that is the biggest problem of selling turbo kits. Customer have the ability to ramp boost sky high and it comes on so fast by the time to realize they did a NO NO its too late. On the other hand with a centrifugal blower you have lower boost down low so its “more forgiving” and giver the drive more warning. Also if the driver ignores the warnings it still has a longer fuse before it blows.

Lastly when you buy a centrifugal blower most often it has a tune that comes with it the is safe – most turbo kits require a custom tune. So customers who fail to be patient end up with EXACTLY what happened here – SUCKS

7# is a lot on a n/a tune. I could see it doing that much damage easily. Saying ignorance is a con for turbos is laughable. ANY FI and stupidity don't mix lol

Slightly agree with Granatelli. You go lean and detonate with a centri down low in the rpms, then your boost is really low. A stock engine can handle detonating with little boost and low torque. You'll likely never make it to full boost without detonating earlier.

If you go lean and detonate with a turbo or pd blower, you might have 450-500lbs-ft of torque at 3,000 rpms within a split second of opening up the throttle. That is a lot of force to go against and attempt to survive detonation.

Bottom line - regardless of the engine if it starts to ping YOU GOTTA LIFT. My point as well as the others was simple...To window an engine as bad as he did he had to be on it for more than a simple millisecond. it took an effort

But he knows that as well - no need to beat the dead horse. Now lets build a bigger better mousetrap
