Mine are similar to B2B's. I made each step 12`long but go 4 boards high. They work fantastic too. Nothing feels secure like being on solid wood ramps. I also made blocks for the rear wheels. With handles on them, they move around quite easily.

It's a bit easier to drive up on DIY ramps if you cut the ends at 45° to the ground or shallower. This is something you're more likely to become aware of if your car has a manual transmission.

You guys should build a stopper at the end so that way you know your goof to stop. Great Idea otherwise.

I have a set if ramps just like these. Work like a champ and way cheaper than the ones at the auto parts stores.

I got an opportunity to use the ramps I built this past weekend. Worked really good and felt much more safe underneath then with the jack and stands.

Someone posted a while back (last year maybe) about some mega ramps they made. Used 2x10s I think, pegs, slots, and made them drive up for all four wheels and then you could take off the ramp parts and just leave the car up on all four corners. Was pretty big set up, but hella nice. I can't find the thread though. Anyone remember which one I am talking about?

Had a "2x"10x'8 pressure treated lumber laying around so I decided to try this out (at work). I did mine as the link on page one ("17,"30, and "43). This got me to a height of "4-3/4. I can access the oil pan to do an oil change and inspect the undercarrige easy enough but, I don't think that there's enough room to work with if I needed to manipulate/remove the mid pipe, for example.

Four boards seems to be the magic number. This thing is heavy as is. The next board needs to be "56. That's crazy heavy, IMO.

My rear ramps are 2 by 10's, 4 layers high. They are heavy mofos. Fronts are 2 x 8s, also 4 layers. A good bit lighter.

I've decided to add the 4th board and keep them close to where I'll use them. I can't see myself dragging them around more than a few feet. Yeah, I bit ghey, I know but any more weight seems like more trouble than its worth. Not to mention that at "56, that's almost a 5 ft ramp!

I'll add the extra ramp this weekend and report the weight, if anyone cares to know...

My ramps are 54" high. 8 inch ramps weigh 30lbs, 10 inch ramps are 43.5lbs. I'm sure the 10 inch is pressure treated, not sure about the 8s.

Of course, with most wood the 8 inch is only 7" wide and the 10 inch is only 9" wide.

Also, the 8 inch ramps have a stop screwed on, the 10 inch ramps are for the rear and wouldn't fit under the car with the stop. Actually, the 4 layers doesn't fit under the car either (even before the roush rear springs) so I have to drive onto some scrap pieces (rear tires only) before sliding the rear ramps under the car.

Me too, cheaper than those crappy rhino ramps they sell at wallyworld

How much are these ramps running you guys? I paid $60 for the Rhino ramp MAX which are bigger and wider for truck tires and work great for our wide tires.

Not to mention the 16,000 capacity.

No more than $30 for my 2x10x16s and some glue or nails.

Example of the wood. Probably don't need 2 of these. a 16 and a 12 may do.

A lot safer than a slanted ramp and I bet they can support more than the plastic ramps.

Thanks for all these good ideas, guys! Was about to buy a set of Rhino's but these look one heck of a lot cheaper..
