I somehow or another forgot the camera this morning and only realized it mid way through the day at the shop, so some pictures will be taken tomorrow!

No wire tuck, it was just easier for me having it out of the way when pulling it. I plan to redo some of the wire loom on it though, so one reason why I pulled it lol

Oh my lord. I would be highly irritated, but no I didn't order them yet. I was waiting until mustang week to see if anyone had anything there before I ordered them. Now that I don't need to worry about locking anything out or limiters for that matter I'm not in a big rush. I know more than one place has to carry them though :(

I probably just searched for the last 15 minutes going through the dealers on trick flows page and couldn't find one place that carried those springs, except summit.

well an update for everyone, I was so close to putting together the short block this weekend until I found out I somehow got the wrong rings with my CP pistons, I bought the pistons new unused as well as the rings and everything else to go with it, everything was sealed in its package. Bad thing is I bought them from a third party so most likely I am unlikely to get a replacement which means I will have to buy a new set of rings :(. So in the mean time I blew out all the oil out of the lash adjusters cleaned them up and primed them with some extra oil I had laying around and they will get blown out again and primed with whatever oil I use in the break in.

As most of you have seen I am going turbo for sure, I wish I would have all the parts and stuff to make it one whole build, but the way it's looking is I will have the motor finished before the turbo build. So really I will have two builds lol. So far I picked up most of the major stuff for the turbo besides a cold side (everything) and the fuel set up, everything else I have gotten or is on the way. :) kind of makes me happy. I have taken pictures of a lot of stuff along the way but will up load them sometime or another.

So I got to putting the vct solenoids back together today. cleaned everything up and installed the small filters with their plugs leaving enough room for the filters to slightly move up and down, plugs were installed used loctite 567 pipe sealant.

Went to install the solenoids and cleaned the small screens, noticed there was a hole in the one screen thinking damnit..

Then remembered I had some old housings and solenoids from a 4.6 3v f150, popped a screen off of it, cleaned it up and wallah! it's a different color and actually snaps together rather than the black ones that don't, but it works and I have 3 spares now lol.. thank gosh for spare parts.

Latest update: finally got around to the heads today, after learning the 3v 5.4 and 4.6 cams were the same I will be using those unless I find a sweet ass deal on some aftermarket cams.

Onto the heads, I'm not touching the ports but did start to un shroud the valve pocket area. Not done, but a sneak preview is always a plus. Should get them finished up tomorrow and then off to the machine shop.

Lookin' good! One thing you'll want to watch out for (I learned the hard way) is not to open it up too much where you go beyond the head gasket compression ring. It's super easy to do, I went a couple thousands outside on the first couple I did, those lines on the sides of the chambers drove me nuts! Not that it's that big of a deal if you do but it's best not to. What you did so far looks great though IMO.

That's correct! I believe on all of them I have a good .030-.040" of clearance before the gasket ring. I have an old set of gaskets I can check it with just in case. I didn't go very far on the ring side anyways didn't see much of an advantage in moving it out so didn't really go far with it.

Well guess I'm about to bite the bullet and order some TSS oil pump gears, not sure if I am just worried about them shattering or prevention from them failing. I already have a new melling m340 pump with pick up, some billet gears should make it pretty stout.

Yeah, I was initially against spending the money too. But the more I thought about it I was bothered by not having the insurance especially with a belt driven blower car making big power. Lot of money invested in the motor.. peace of mind was worth buying them

I wasn't against it I just didn't see the reason to have them since the GT500 uses pretty much the same pump besides the pressure spring, that's what I was basing it off of. But I did some searching this morning after I made that post, found them on latemodel restoration, checked my email for any promo codes and got 10% off so I got them for $315 to my door.

Along side that, I received my 26113 springs, comp retainers, and new viton valve seals yesterday. boxes everywhere!

Yea spending the $315 sucks but in the big scheme of things its not too bad, cheap insurance & peace of mind.

When you going empty all those boxes and put that thing back together!

that's the way I saw it so I went ahead and ordered them and have peace of mind once it's together.

hopefully soon! tonight I plan to CC the heads to make sure they are all within the same amount, if not change what I have to check them again and they can go to the machine shop. It's the last big thing I have to do, I am waiting on my ARP ring compressor which should be here by the end of the week, I have a few others I can use but I won the quarterly contest on ARP and got a $250 certificate to use so I bought a bunch of stuff with it lol.

Kicker, I will be out of town for 4 days starting tomorrow night so everything will come in and I won't get anything done.. story of my life.

After just checking with an old head gasket, I did go over a little bit on all of them. It isn't by much though.
