i understand differences of preference but to blanket diamonds entire product over one bad experience to me is just absurd. i can see a bad batch with any manufacturer at any given time. as far is hone grit, thats pretty much common knowledge for any reputable performance machinist and the top coat on the pistons ,that mainly is for turbo applications to deal with the extra heat associated with cyl. temps so its not pointless unless you're not going turbo. diamond pistons in my engine also, non coated, no issues. looks like your new piston has a .275" top land which is standard on diamond mod pistons anyhow
