On the 23rd another site posted Ford is considering a Mustang Off Road version. Too late! Last weekend I attended a wedding of a young man who was a drummer in my drumline, Scottish Pipe Band. He gave me the address and city. Turns out he didn't give me enough information and I didn't ask enough questions. When I got to the road the wedding was located on, after a few hundred foot of paved road, turns out the house was three miles up a logging road and of course three miles back down. The whole run was about 2,3 MPH as it is not maintained, and recent rains had caused gigantic ruts and some missing areas of the road. I went across and over some of this stuff at pretty weird angles to keep from tearing something loose underneath. Other areas had such sharp rocks that I'm taking my car in to have the tires examined. So, Ford is too late!

A follow up to my off-road driving post. My wife's condition doesn't always allow me to do the things I want to do, when I want to. So, I was only able to get to the tire shop a week ago. Amazingly, no cuts but a recommendation to replace my tires. They are the Cooper Endeavor Plus, not the top tire out there but they had a good score for dry & wet conditions, decent rating for light snow and not a great rating for heavy snow condition. This is the same tire that came with the car. Given my car goes into and stays in the garage as soon as the highway workers start spraying the highway, thus the snow rating not a big issue.

The shops discovery I was running "slicks" on the car explains the laying rubber incident when I was merging into traffic a few days earlier. ;)

What is it with these wedding receptions? Last year the son of a buddy of mine got married near San Marcos, Texas, and we drove the mustang. Following the map directions we drive up to a gravel road that went up a hill and into the woods. It was dustier and rougher than I would normally drive on, but we really enjoyed the reception, so it was worth it.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to go back and get my SUV. So, was stuck with what I was driving. Great day for driving the convertible though. The problem with that is it requires a major clean-up after driving on that kind of terrain.

Cold nights are here already so won't be long before the Mustang is put away for the winter.

Had the same thing happen to me on the way to a wedding!

I took a hard right at the intersection, should of been an easy right. I ended up on a jeep trail. cliffs on each side of the road, mud, ruts, you name it. I did get a HUGE thumbs up and applause from the wrangler and samurai drivers upon exiting though.

Must be something about mustangs and weddings ...
