My 2 cents....

I run steeda sway bars front & rear, stiffer steeda lowering springs, I don't have relocation brackets to level my LCAs and I have not adjusted my pinion angle (stock UCA).

Despite that all, my last time to the strip 8 of my 10 60's were in the 1.6x range (1.66 being the average) with ET street radials and 3.55 gears in a full weight (3550 lb) car.

So if you ask me if you do not have to make your car handle like poop to hook up. My car hooks up extremely well, and I never get wheel hop or tire shake. The only difference between my car when it is used for track/autocross and drag racing is the wheels/tires and shock settings.

I agree; you don't have to pull the front sway bar to make these cars dead hook. My car has 100% stock suspension. The automatic transmission is 100% stock (although I have an aftermarket stall converter). I have a centrifugal blower, so there's very little boost/power off the line. Yet, with drag radials, my 60' times are in the 1.7's consistently with zero wheel hop or drama. Since my car dead hooks, as is, I have to wonder if there would be any benefit at all in removing my front sway bar?

I'm not wanting this mod to make the car hook . I just need the space . My only concern is without the sway bar , will the car drive well on the road. I don't take the car to the road tracks , but want it to handle well on the curvy roads when I want to play .

It's not a destroyer of turns mod or anything, just a little more movement in the front. unhook the sway bar and try it out.

You're right, you don't have to. But the radiator support/sway bar delete helps optimize the car's ability to fully transfer weight to the rear. 1.5 60s have pushed me close to 11s, not too far off from nearly stock, supercharged applications. Just a matter of what's important and your goals. If I had a second car for daily driving, I'd lower a bit, decent tires and wheels, full exhaust, add adjustable shocks/struts at all 4 corners, and throw on a whipple. Done. High 11s at the strip, a decent corner carver, and likely a great stoplight bandit if the tires are sticky enough...

Don't spend the dough on the BMR, go with the UPR. If you intend on wanting the swaybar for the street, and dropping it for the strip go with the Steeda.

I have the Steeda now but , the new crank support is in conflict with the sway bar . I could lower the sway bar some while watching the tie rods for clearance , but that is allot of layout and work if I really don't need it in the first place . I guess the big question is , is there anyone who has removed it and didn't like the feel of the car on the street and highway ?

I guess if I want to I could just go without it and do the fab work to add it back latter if I really don't like the feel . Just trying to research if I even need to allow that option at this point , because it changes how I do a few things I'm working on .

Took mine off last season (and it will never go back on), dropped both 60 foot and ET time. Great free mod for the drag strip.

I'll never road race my stang, its only drag race and street race/roll race. I don't care to go on a road course.

I think I will grab a UPR one soon.

Wow, nice to see an old thread of mine still alive and kicking.

As an update, I've not used my front sway bar since this thread was started. It stays off the car, unless I plan on doing some mean corner-carving, such as during certain local cruises. The street handling is slightly softer up front without the sway, but you get used to it and make sure to not over-push the front.

But for the drag strip, it stays off all the rest of the time.

Update. I removed my front sway bar last night and went to the track today. Previous best 60' was 1.73, and typically pulled 1.75-1.79's. Today I made 3 runs: 1.70, 1.74, and 1.66. Any improvement is good and this one didn't cost a dime! Just 40 minutes of my time.

Thanks for the update . How did it feel driving to and from the track ?
