better get them upgrades done. these 5.0s are not getting any slower.

Neither is my little 3v, I coming for ya in November... You made need to turn that boost op to 20 psi. 8 sec street cars headed to local Texas tracks! LOL :thumb2:

At least you figured it out and don't have any head scratching going on right now.

That's no shit!!! This will be the first night the JD hasn't worn off at 4 am and I am thinking WTF all week!

The crazy part about this is Billy was preaching to us just about this during the last meet. I assume the 5.0 tanks are the same design so its good knowledge for us

I know, that is the bad part. I guess I was all caught up in the cold air and the new bests. Fucking car was fast! Hell, 4060 lbs at 9.38 is about 944 rwhp on the Wallace calculators. I tested several others on there to see if it was accurate or not and it looks like I should through down some 950 rwhp #s on the E85 tune on the 28th.

Here is where I am at as of right now, the parts are cleaned , parts that need coated are going out Mon. and will be at there destination on Tue. morning, everything that needed to go to the machine shop went yesterday, the rear is out and torn down and the new ring (3:73) is on the True Track along with the bearing on the pinion. The rear will go together in the morning and get installed along with the BMR rear anti sway bar. I will get the tabs welded while at Truestreet on the 28th. I am also cutting down the custom crank support tomorrow as it is bigger then needed. Only thing left unchecked is the leaking Misimotto radiator. I am looking at my options there as I don't have the receipt to take advantage of there no questions asked lifetime warranty I may just reinstall it and deal with it after the dyno tune. It seeps some from both sides. Just got a lead on a used front cover in the Dallas area I will check on Monday morning.

That's that for now. On schedule though!

Man, you dont mess around! I do have a quick question for you though, at what point do you think a person should think about the billet I-Beams over an H-Beam rod?

1000 to 1200 rwhp, jmo though. I was glad I had them at 700 rwhp! I had a piston melt do to a bad BAP on one of my pumps and I melted a piston in 08'. I ordered two new ones but they sent the wrong ones and I did not check them though, they were for standard stroke which is a couple thousands taller. They smacked the head on the first pull. The rods where okay though.

Yeah, I know it is all just a guess, just like to poll others opinions. I havent thrown out the idea of putting together another engine that doesnt have a stock crank for big power, so just doing some planning. sorry for the side track.

I would use H beam rods up to around 800 rwhp. Anything over that and I would want some billet rods in the engine. I have billet rods in mine, just because I like overkill. I have had one burnt piston and when I had my fire the pass side cam jumped time and the valves beat the hell out of the pistons on that side. I had to put in all new valves, guides and new pistons but the rods were fine.

Next thing to think about for track days. Adding a pump to the pass side to transfer to the DS via a switch in the console. I have work to do...

Why not a fuel cell?

Maybe this winter or next year. I have limited time to get back up right now. I would like a 15 gal alum fuel cell in the trunk with a tapered bottom and an opening to accept my current fuel hat mounted at the rear of the tank and reach to the bottom of the sump. I will design one this winter and build it in the spring maybe. Then the trans coolers can move up to where the tank is now and be on a angle to the front to catch more air.

As you can tell it is in the back of my mind.

What about a cell in the spare tire well without a hat? Use an aeromotive inline pump like some of the sumped new edge cars?

Inline pumps are for race cars, and I have no spare tire well, its all alum and flat in the trunk covered with carpet. Have you not followed my build? LOL JK! :thumb2:

Any chance you could post up the sleeves you use? I know you posted something on ebay and that yours are similar. Turns out all of the cylinders on the driver's side of my engine are out of round but I'm hoping they will clean up going from 10 to 20 over but I suspect at least one will need to be sleeved.

Here is the crazy thing...when we pulled the front cover we found that both of the guide pins the tensioner arms pivot on were broken! Can't believe it never jumped a tooth and kept running fine. I'm starting to think it had to do with running the metal tensioners along with the 2-step and since they ratchet they just kept getting tighter. I will be putting the stock plastic tensioners in during my rebuild after talking with Lito about it.

^Calls me slow, carry on, lol
Hell at this point if you don't laugh about it you cry... I do a little sometimes when I am alone... :nk: LOL

To be honest though , I am surpassing any goals I set out to meet with this car at this point. Check the OP of this thread! I have done what I set out to do in the beginning. Now its time to go " Really Fast" ! Maybe its time for a new thread after the car is up and running again next weekend?

If it wasn't for Larry (stretch) I might just be happy with the current setup. I will not let a 5.0 street car kick my ass though! . Its only a tenth but, a time is a time. I thought I had a fast car till we went to the track together... Now I have a slow ass 3v that cant hold its own with a 5.0 with twins and no safety equipment that runs a 9.27 at 154. I have work to do, the goal has changed... :chainsaw:
New goal 8.97!

Yea that's right stretch, ITS ON! LOL

Better get some E85 and up that boost...

Sorry to here of your issues with the motor. To be honest the shop just gets them and presses them in, I have never asked but, they work. You would be looking at $400 around here. Good luck!

Also, if you resleeve them you wont have to buy new pistons.

I wondered if you had thought about that. What about setting it up using another output from your boost controller (if it has any spares) so that the pump kicks on when you see boost or whatever you use to trigger your meth injection?

Good luck with the rebuild! Glad it isn't major....:lol2:

Yep, and I'm feeling it!

I am just going to put it on a toggle switch to use at the track. When I get there I can turn it on and pump the pass side over to the drivers side and then turn it off. That way what ever the gauge says I have is all on the drivers side.
