New style jack stand

Just came across these. Kind of pricey for a stand, but kind of clever too. If you jack the car up at the pinch weld, you get to support it there too. I see if you order two they give you a little price break. Watch the video at the bottom of the page I linked and they are shown in action. I think they are made in the states so maybe that's why they aren't cheap.

If this needs to be moved to Pitstop, I apologize, just thought more members would see this here.

Pretty cool but it'd never fit under my car. That's why I'm looking at the jacking rails. About the same price for a pair as one of those.

There's another one that's been around a while, and it has 4 legs, not 2.
They all suffer from the same issues, you still need to drag them out every time you lift the car up, and you have to lift the car first before they'll fit under there, same as with regular jack stands.

At $140 each, they really need to re-think a few things.
I don't understand what's wrong with just using a regular $40-$50 set of jack stands.

The jacking rails work great. They just don't go back far enough as Gabe has said in his post. That is the Steeda rails. Now it would work on my 4X4 Ranger........

I love my Steeda jacking rails, they really do make jacking the car up much quicker, easier, and I think safer.
Yes, I wish they offered a longer version.
But in practice, they work just fine.
If I want to jack up just the back of the car, I still jack it up under the pumpkin and then decide where I want to put the jack stands - under the rear axle tubes,
under the sides of the car (in front of the rear wheels), or if I'm not planning on taking off the wheels I'll just use the wood cribbing pieces under the rear tires,
which I think is the safest option:

I just had my rear of the car up and just jacked far enough forward to let me put the jack stand under the rear most part of the jack rails. that worked good as I wanted the rear to hang so I could check what is making noise.

I don't own these (or have ordered them), but I think most are actually missing that it adds less than 2 inches to the height of the jack pad. If that means it won't fit under any car, then I don't get it. That is saying if you put a piece of 2x4 on your jack plate, you couldn't fit it under the car??? You don't have to jack it up first before you use it and most importantly it ends up being supported where you jacked it up from.

My car is lowered 1" and a little. If I want to jack up the front from the front K member I have to drive it up on my ramps and then jack from there. That's why after reading what Gabe said about the Steeda jacking rails I went with them, much easier.

Really? I'm wrong that you have to drag them out every time you need to use them? And I'm wrong that you need to lift the car first before they'll fit under the car?

Do you store all your jack stands right next to the car at all times?
And is your car lifted, so that the stands in the videos will fit under it before lifting it?

The jack stands in the opening post probably wouldn't fit under my lowered car, I had to get a low-profile jack to get it to fit under the car, don't see how adding that bracket/whatever-piece onto the jack pad would fit before lifting the car.

If adding two inches to the jack pad would not allow the jack to fit under the car, then yes, you would need to lift it first. The sides and actual stand go on after it is jacked up. They do show a low profile jack and that may be what (if it would work then) a lowered car would need. My car still has 4 wheel drive so it would work fine for me. Certainly would work for everything else in the garage. I didn't think the use of a jack stand was a bad idea, I have supported a car on a jack only, but I felt like I was playing Russian roulette.

Mehh, no thanks. My regular cheap jacks stands work fine. I agree even with a low profile jack doubt they will fit with out the extra steps of lifting first.

How long did it take you to install them? And did you need access to a lift to do so?

I installed mine in less than an hour, maybe a half hour total.
Jack the car up on one side, set it on jack stands, install jacking rail, lower car.
Rinse and repeat.

I have to drive my car up on some 2x6's just to fit the jack under it and even with that it barely clears.

I hate jacking up my car, it is such a pain in the ass with the car lowered. If I want all four wheels off the ground, I have to raise the front just barely enough for the jack stands to fit, then raise the back, and then lift the front the rest of the way to the height I need. Can't raise one end or the other too high starting out or the jack won't clear the bumpers.
