Actually, fuck it.

Just talked to DOB and the R-Spec will work with 3v heads on a 5.4 or 5.8 block.

They make it wider for that?

Good luck finding a 5.8L block, I just sold mine.
It'll require an adaptor since the heads will sit out wider.

And I know. I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about trying to pick up a dry sump Ford GT block since I'll be going dry sump anyways... I need to do some research because I know nothing about these blocks.

Did you robbed a bank or something?

It would be good to get a complete engine so you have everything you need at once, piece it together is going to get harder and even more expensive.

I wish hahaha. This build is at least a year or two off.

Idk what's different about the GT vs the GT500 block, but I know I'll need forged internals. And I'll be running 3v heads so Idek if those will fit a GT block.

The GT block is the first production alu block with a 5.4 deck done, there a few things that changed from the iron block and the 11+ alu GT500 block, they came with piston squirters, the pan section is different (do not recall what changed there) it has to be machined for the starter and the oil pump area is different due to the dry sump too but the rest will just work. 3V heads will work, no problem.

Now, if 3V heads, you will need a F-150 front cover, L&M checked a few things for me to do this on the 5.8L block but don't know on the GT, still will need the cover but don't know how it will meet with the dry sump pan, quite sure it will work, will need to mock everything and mod as needed.

Various shops can mod a GT block for your needs, as you wont need oil pump mods, even better.

See, Lito, this is why you tune my car hahahaha.

I'm gonna spend my day tomorrow surfing the net for any info I can get on this stuff. Probably make some calls too.

Most of the 5.4L and 5.8L blocks I'm finding new are around 4k. Yuck.

I'm gonna start checking forums and see what I can find used.

At this point it's looking like the best option is gonna be one of the newer blocks. There's one that's based of the GT block but has improved oil drainbacks.

Research is ongoing though.

Search jafromobile glyptal(spellcheck). Something to consider since your going crazy
Interesting...

Right now I'm for sure doing cryo and then WPC treatment. The WPC is awesome, but idk if it'll work with coatings

Would you use the wpc process on non moving surfaces? Glyptal is meant for non moving parts. IE iinterior of the block and heads, also spark plug holes. It's crazy how much it actually does

WPC would go on everything. You can't pick and choose which places it goes, it's like sandblasting.

It may still work with this coating, but idk.

Unless you are going for an all out road race car I don't know if you would really exhibit the kind of G's you would need to prevent oil starvation upon braking or mid turn to require a dry sump setup. I mean it would be nice to get the engine lower and some additional weight savings but is it really something mandatory or just a thing that would be cool to have?

There are a lot of reasons to go with dry sump besides just oil starvation.
