I struggle with this myself... but the consensus here is going to tell you to go with a 5.0. They're also going to say this is a beat up topic. (I am guilty as well) However it's going to boil down to what you want out of your car.

Would be cheaper to build if the main issue is wanting to go faster. Assuming its paid for.

You pretty much have the hard part done, I would just continue to build if I were you.

Kinda of want something new, also seems to be cheaper to get to my et goals 10.99 or better. Plus the car is getting up their in age. I was either gonna go new or put in kooks headers, 127550 cams and either frpp manifold or jpc if it ever comes out. It just seems the new cars can get to certain ets with guite a bit less power compared to the 3vs

Lol car os paid off next month

Man, I faced the same decision recently. I had my 07 GT/CS just the way I wanted it suspension and appearance wise, and was starting to accumulate parts to give it moar powa, but then my convertible top went to crap, and when I found out the cost of replacing it, I suddenly found myself in the new car market. I ended up with a 2013 GT, and haven't looked back since.

I did not, however, have 500 HP on my 07 :omfg:

Part it out and sell it.

OR

Keep it, continue to watch the value plummet and be sorry sooner than later.

Do a poll on 3V owners that moved to a 5.0 and are sorry they did.

/end thread. Lol

And to it being almost paid for, my car WAS paid for which put me in a fantastic position to own a new 2013 8 months BEFORE 2013 even rolled around for hardly nothing on my end because my trade value was so high.

One I remember went 10s had built auto, stall'd, suspension, tires. Maybe a few more minor items. Obviously was forced induction. Cant recall which power adder. He was not even close to 600 and was on the stock sb. Was posted in the drag racing subforum but I cant find it now.

Dumb poll. There is always a tendency to justify a purchase after selling the farm to do it. He can sell what he has, be lucky to get 15, and spend another 8-10 on top of that just to get into a used 5.0. And then he'll still need to put more into it for a power adder, other mods, etc..

It makes zero financial sense if all he wants is to go faster.

But you know, some people think the new interiors alone are worth 10+ grand. Personally I think they are nuts.

If it's almost paid for, pay it off, put a smaller pulley on it and leave it the hell alone. You will never be able to use all that horsepower on the street and if you want a race car, then build a race car. Don't get another car payment.

Do some visual stuff to feed your modding hunger. Try to make something custom. You'll still get your spending money fix and you can make it exactly how you want it.

I like the looks to. I found a poor bastard tha offered me 20k for mine dealers were gonna give me 17k
If you can find the right buyer then sure. That makes it a little easier to justify (IMO) however I still bet you'll end up spending more overall. How far are you from 10s right now with what you have?
