Alright well long story short I got 9/10 freeze plugs in for the heads, tasca miss placed my last one. its on order again, who knows when I'll get it. But I got the plugs installed that I had, plugged the extra hole and will install that plug when it comes in and touch up the paint. Also got them assembled and primed/painted. Not so much for appearance, but corrosion... I hate it lol.

Problem arose today, drivers side head, got to the last sequence of the second 90* and somehow slipped and turned it another 43* so the wrench says. It was only that bolt, now it's got me second guessing the entire driver side head whether or not it will seal right or be to much. Might be easier to get another head changing kit and do it again. Any input? Because right now I'm freaking out.

Let it roll it will be fine just a little more tq on that bolt. That will not cause the gasket to fail

Okay, the rest are all around 85-90ft lbs roughly using the wrench and seeing what the torque was. The one that was over torqued is somewhere near 120ft lbs. Still has me freaking out, especially with these shitty tty bolts. This is why I hate using them lol

If you are that worried back it up 45deg and check with tq wrench to see if it is same as the others. If more leave it alone if less just tq it to same as the others and call it a day.

Although I would just leave it as is personally

If you are going to loosen it up slightly, I would do it before heat cycling the engine. If the other bolts are 85-90 and this one is 120 then I'd back it off a quarter turn and tighten it back to 95. Just my gut feeling with what I understand about TTY bolts.

Well it's either leave it and just let it ride or just get another head bolt and just replace it for peace of mind. If most think leaving it is fine then that's what I'll do, it won't be heat cycled for a while lol.

Skwerl I didn't have a oil fill neck either for you :( just an extra cap.

FYI for anyone reading: A tty fastener yields at an engineered clamping force. Torque To Yield. It's torqued until the fastener yields or enters the plastic state. No more clamping load is applied once it enters the plastic state.

If it's installed per the directions then it already entered the plastic state and will not apply any more force. This is one reason why I like Ford tty head bolts, it's impossible to over torque them.

Do not back it off unless you are going to replace it. It's already entered the plastic state and shouldn't be reused.

The only problem for the OP would be if the head was turned so far that it twisted off. I doubt that has happened.

No lol I checked that, made sure nothing snapped. All good that way so I'll just leave it. I did call my local stealership and they will have bolts in Wednesday. If I feel iffy about it still then I'll grab another and just replace it. just for the purpose of letting me sleep at night.

Well boys I have closed another chapter in this build. I feel accomplished and yet sad because it's over. I had fun working late hours on this and some stressful moments at that, but all in all it was fun.
