If the MPH through the traps is the same wouldn't the RPM's stay the same? Or is there some auto trans trickery I'm not hip too?
I’m not telling, I’m asking here.
I haven’t made the switch to e85 yet (this winter) but I have done a TON of background on it. At the end of the day the in cylinder temps are what matters. IAT’s are only an “indicator” of actual in cylinder temps. E85 cools so much better than gas that IAT’s with e85 can be 60-75deg higher (and that is still safe) and you will have the same in cylinder temps as gas.
I agree that in theory that a cooler IAT will make more power. But there is a point where cooler IAT’s don’t do any good. I highly doubt you could detect a power difference between lets say a 130deg IAT (as long as no timing is pulled) and a 80deg IAT.
For you it would be pretty easy to test. Raise your IAT/timing threshold to match the e85. 175deg is still plenty safe. Then make a run with meth and make a run without meth. If the MPH doesn’t improve with the meth the cooler IAT’s aren’t doing anything for you.
Just a thought.
I'm planning on running the IAT/timing threshold on my 2007 at 175deg on e85 and 26-27lbs of boost. On paper it's more than safe.........
