Not only do I keep a battery tender connected when in storage, but also on a daily basis when the car is parked inside the garage overnight. Honestly, I haven't checked the battery voltage since I've owned the "06" GT, but had ever worse issues with batteries crapping out when I owned my previous "05" GT. So yes, I definitely agree that something doesn't sound right. Therefore would you recommend checking the battery voltage while connected to the battery tender or should it be disconnected? Also what should the normal battery voltage be and should the battery be tested under the volts, amps or milliamps category? as I don't really remember lol.

Minimum battery voltage just with everything OFF should be 12.5 V or higher. Fully charged battery spec is 12.6v but in reality I usually see 12.75v on a battery that is not connected to the car.
Battery tender will enter into maintainance mode (solid green light) and maintain 13.0 v. But the battery tender will not come out of storage mode unless you disco/reconnect it. So in theory, it is possible to have a green light and still have a dead battery. But I have never seen that happen.

As a side note: I think the max time I can let the 07 sit without a charger is about 2 months. I know I dont have excess draw and battery is less than a year old.

You'd be shocked how little the battery drains not connected to the car. When I store mine I disconnected the ground, no tenderizer (storage unit, no power) and it will crank 6-8 months later no problem. Motorcraft battery

You are correct that's how they sit on the shelves in stores

Yup, disconnecting battery makes a huge difference on these new cars. I dont want to lose the leared shit in pcm, window, radio settings.
My fox can sit a.year and it will start just fine.

I would love to lose weight. I bought a lithium iron phosphate type battery. Dead in two years.

I went with a 350 cca Battery tender brand. Used it in the 91 for one track event. I have a high torque ministarter. Gear reduction type, draws less current than a standard.
After that event, I used it in my waveblaster. Removed it in the winter, kept it inside the house. It no longer holds a charge.

Even the Lead Battery Tender products suck. Theses antigravity batteries are no joke. They are used in gt3 Porsche race cars. Using them no problems in the s550. Going on 5yrs in an s197. Had problems with small engine batteries as well until making the switch to antigravity.

Just to clarify, my battery always remains connected to the car when connected to the battery tender from it's optional 12v power plug adapter into the 12v power socket in the dash. So I really don't know for certain, if keeping the battery connected to both the car and battery tender is shortening the battery's lifespan or not. As mentioned earlier, I also keep the battery tender connected without disconnecting the battery from the car on a daily basis whenever it's not being driven. I also do not disconnect the battery from the car when it's in storage for the winter, but always make certain the battery tender is connected, never the less

Weird I never lose ANY settings, radio presets are there, windows and fobs work fine, the headunit uses GPS for the clock so it's always correct. It works so good I installed a quick disconnect so I dont need an 8mm wrench

My factory battery died after the car sat for about 2-3 months as it was almost 3 years old. This was normal behavior from what I had seen as a Ford Service Writer in my days doing that.
Got it replaced under warranty. The replacement has been going great ever since. I did add a battery tender at about the same time as getting that new battery, so I'm sure it helps.
And in my Advisor days, I sold many Ford 100-month-warranty batteries (they have other, cheaper ones), and almost never had an issue. For some weird reason it seems that the batteries we sold over the counter (same stuff we'd use for warranty replacements) would last much longer than the batteries installed at the factory.

Motorcraft is one of the best batteries out there based on experience and research.

What he ^^^^ said.

Just fyi Motorcraft batteries aren't made by Ford. Thiers only like 4 companies in the world now that makes batteries.

The same company that makes diehard , interstate batteries makes motorcraft.

Yes, only a few companies, but I'm sure they build different brands to different quality levels.

On a side note, the new Interstate battery I installed in my Tundra at the end of 2014 is still going strong, truck spins up fast and strong every time, even recently when it sat for almost 2 weeks while the wife was sick and I was driving the new VW wagon around for errands and such.

And yes, Optima batteries have earned a shit reputation recently, I'd stay away.

I bought an Interstate last summer. Been working great even with sitting for weeks at a time. Yellow tops aren't really worth the extra cost unless you have a megawatt stereo or a flux capacitor.

My original battery lasted a decade so I replaced it with another OE motorcraft one.
I have an AC Delco battery on my SVT focus that is also now 10 years old.
I guess I just live in the right place for car battery life.
