Guys,

Naturally, my car has the OEM belts. I'm finally about to pull the OEM seats and install my Recaro's which have holes in the backrest for pull through seat belts. I'm also installing a 6 pt. roll bar and that's where the chest belts will mount, to the cross bar.

So what's the point of this thread?

I'd like to know the varieties of belts out there? Suppliers? The overwhelming belt of choice used for Mustangs? How many points did you go with, 4 or 5? Can you post up pics of your setup? Did you install a crotch belt, too? Did you remove your OEM belts? If you did, how did you eliminate the dash seatbelt light & buzzer?

All that shit, that's the point of this thread.
Thanks!

I have G-Force 6-points sitting in the bedroom waiting for the 4-point bar to arrive & time to install.

Yeah....I've been thinking about this for a while. I want to do it right the first time. Everything will be removable so I can convert between racecar mode & DD mode (still need use of the back seats for the kiddos). So, Watson bar vs MM, and the eyebolt/snap clip install for the harnesses. I'll probably just hook the 3-point around behind the seatback during track days.

YEAH, get to it!:greenchainsaw:

Suppliers?
After a ton of looking around and getting recommendation from Maximum Motorsports I went with Crow.

Thew guy who owns the company was one of the head guys at I think it was Simpson and broke off to do his own thing. What I like the most is they will "custom build" you a setup no charge. You tell them what you want and they box it up and ship it.

How many points did you go with, 4 or 5?
I went with 5 but I have never used the sub belt (5th). I would use it if at the track or doing a mile even or something.

Can you post up pics of your setup?

I just texted one to you.

Did you install a crotch belt, too?
Yes, but I haven't used it.

Did you remove your OEM belts?
Yes

If you did, how did you eliminate the dash seatbelt light & buzzer?
There is some plug in jobbie for that. I don't remember what the part number is. You can also wire up a resistor of some sort and make a bypass. It should be pretty easy to find on the net.

I spent a lot of time getting the belt width correct. I can't remember all the details of why but some of the more "modern" belt widths have some safety shortcoming. The arguments I heard at the time were solid. I went with 1 3/4" belts.

THe Watson bar will not pass tech for sanctioned events. The bars being removable and not welded are the issue. I will also note that the MM gussets are way beefier than the OEM pieces. Watson leads you to believe they don't need to be replaced. Maybe not but they are reusing the OEM gussets because of cost. Overall the MM bar is a better piece in my opinion. And NHRA legal!

Sanctioned by whom? I don't care about NHRA. The car is a corner carver, not a drag racer--it will never see a 1/4 mile track. I'm also just doing autocross & HPDE, I should be fine. I've covered my reasoning behind why I went the way I did in threads in Corner Carvers (and briefly in my post above); I am aware it's not the best racecar solution, but for my needs it works.

Anyway, that gets OT for Piggy's question.

I looked at these when I was shopping for belts. They were a front runner.

I like them because they are temporary (install/remove in under 5 minutes), don't require a roll bar or harness bar, and solve the airbag/seat belt light issue. They also are 4-point, so they don't require modification of the seat, but they are designed to still be anti-submarine.

In my mind, they are perfect for autocross and low-key track days.

It looks like they only work if you don't have recaros since the strap mounts to the headrest from the looks of it. Or am I completely missing something?
Yeah, they don't strap to the headrests.
